  • I appreciate all this information and you have a great treasure trove of knowledge, but I must confess, hearing you say "why not try this first" in varying highs and lows really got to me :)

I'm going to be seeing Dr. Starr soon, however I really hope he has a vegan/vegetarian option to help me. Great job, keep up the great work!

  • @kaumudee Thanks for your nice comment. I appreciate it. I posted these to try and convince my parents to have my mother try desiccated thyroid as well as natural treatments used by Joan Mathews Larson. My mother struggled with depression for 50 years. All the doctors did was give her drugs and more drugs but it only made things worse. I'd like to convince both doctors and patients to "try this first" Both my parents died 5 months ago two weeks apart. Hopefully others will be helped. Larry Hobbs

  • @larryshobbs I'm really anti-anti-depressants. I think it's the worst possible thing someone can do to their body. I'm sorry for your loss - I hope others can take away from this and help themselves before it's too late for them!

  • @kaumudee Thank you. I have become much more anti-drugs in the past 4 years watching how drugs devastated my mother's life. Dr. Mercola did an interview with author Robert Whitaker who told how antidepressants are NOT very effective, they convert a short-term illness into a chronic problem, increase the risk of converting someone from depression to manic-depression, are not "normalizing agents", but instead are "abnormalizing agents", REDUCE serotonin levels, and DECREASE serotonin receptors. • I have been on natural thyroid (Armour 120mg) for 3 years, prior to that I had been on Synthroid or Levoxyine since 1989. I wish I could say there has been a change in my symtoms, but there is not. I'm still losing hair, nail break constantly, sleep problems, still gaining weight, tired, joint pain, high cholesterol. Now what? I have been to so many doctors, they blame it on menopause, but my symtoms have always been the same.

  • @krayze8 Sorry to hear that.

In another video clip, Dr. Starr notes that the average dose of desiccated thyroid in his hypothyroid patients is 200-233 mg per day -- 3 to 3.5 grains.

Dr. Starr also notes that famous Belgium endocrinologist, Jacques Hergoghe, MD noted that the average dose in his patients was the same -- 200-233 mg.

If you'd like a copy of Hertoghe's study, just email me at larryshobbs [AT] gmail.com.

I would also email Dr. Starr and ask his advice.

  • I can absolutely believe this, because the medical industry convinced me into having my thyroid removed in 2005. I have only ever been prescribed Synthroid which is the synthetic form of thyroid. My husband is in the Military, and we are stationed in Germany, and have been for ten years now. In the last three years I have developed Heart Failure, but I'm still not allowed dessicated thyroid because the Army does not carry it. I don't know what to do now.

  • @carolann64 I'm so sorry. Dr. Starr's book contains wonderful before and after X-rays showing enlarged hearts shrinking back to normal size when people were given desiccated thyroid.

I will be glad to email you the pages from his book about this.

You can email me at larryhobbs (AT) fatnews (DOT) com.

I would also contact Mark Starr, MD and ask his advice on how to do this.

Here is Dr. Starr's contact info.

  • So if my daytime temp is 95.6, it is nothing to be concerned about?

  • @cynthiaall Cynthia, Dr. Broda Barnes had people take underarm temperature for 10 minutes before getting out of bed because that is the lowest temperature of the day.

They also have people do it for at least 4 days and record it.

Women should do it so as to include the second day of menstruation.

Temp may rise around ovulation, so women should not take their temp then.

I would check your basal temp as they recommend.

You can email Dr. Starr at mstarrmd (AT) yahoo (DOT) com.

  • @TheOutThereSomewhere Thanks for your comment.

  • Are you suppose to be warmer before you get out of bed in the morning?

  • @cynthiaall Your underarm temperature taken for 10 minutes before getting out of bed in the morning, and before doing anything should be 97.8 to 98.2 degrees F according to one of the great thyroid experts of all time, Broda Barnes, MD, PhD

A temperature below 97.8 degrees F indicates low thyroid function.

Giving desiccated thyroid raises this basal temperature.

He did not use oral temperature because a sinus infection can raise oral temperature and give a false reading.

  • @larryshobbs My temp is highest in the morning, but not that high. During the day my temp gets lower and I fall asleep.

  • @cynthiaall I would email Dr. Starr and see if he has any advice for you.
