  • Sometimes music out grows just the sound and lyrics.....this...jesus christ superstar....tommy....the feelings we have inside when we hear these is more than just bars on a sheet.....genius.....simples....

  • My brother turned me on to this "War Of The Worlds" many years ago and I wore it out, listening to it over and over untill I grew tired of it. This one my favorite songs but I set it aside and eventually I lost track of it. Untill now.....thank you so very much fpr sharing this magnificent experience.so I could experience it again. An absolute masterpiece.

  • Danke!!!!!

  • does anyone know where to purchase this version of the show? I can see that much of the 2006 version has been removed and youtube is being populated with the 2010/2011 version. I have tried to google it and find other versions but not this one,

  • weoo waao woo. XD

  • The giant disembodied head of The Narrator is... unsettling.

  • i remember ABC radio played this in the 80's, timeless tune!

  • I was in the second row from the front in the Birmingham performance, none of them were miming

  • Six years later (July 4), I still love and miss you Mum!

  • @cntower01 I had this at my Mum's funneral, I completely understand what you've just wrote

  • Justin Hayward appears to be miming

  • @77edster No he´s not....I know this song forwards and backwards and he´s not singing the exact version as he did on the album. And his voice is much more mature here then on the ´70 album of this great piece of art that War of the world is.

  • @77edster Never! He'd get lynched. Imagine if you'd payed all that money to go see this live,if he was miming they'd get sued

  • @TheAlienFan i was there (in the netherlands) and he did not seem to mime.

  • @77edster

its because the clip is out of sync

  • 1978 was all magic that year

  • Sharon Grace.....(you know who you are) This was the only thing that could express the pain of me pushing you away....you leaving as a result. I miss the Autumn walks at ol' MSU and the times we shared...albeit brief. They have seared a place in my heart that will always carry YOU with it. Funny. It's been 30 years. Can that be right? ~JV~

  • Thanks so much for posting this and the other clips from the "War of the Worlds" DVD. I have loved the vinyl album and CDs ever since I first heard them, and I hope someday to own a copy of the DVD in Region 1 encoding so I can watch it again and again.

  • I cried as soon as I pressed play! Such a fantastic song! I love it.

  • Carrie and her father were gone ... HG Wells inspired so many ... Jeff Wayne continues to inspire so many more and continues to do so.

This song just touches my heart and soul and hits every emotion I have!! Pure brilliance! ILY Justin!! The Moodies forever my friends!! ♥♥

  • I'm new to You Tube. Probably for a reason. I've been waiting for a venue to share the feelings a song can have. And this is for my love who showed me what the Holy Spirit truly is. The love that grows stronger ever passing day. The love that proves the Divine. You left on 12-19-01 and were laid to rest 12-22-01. You bridged the gap by being Forever Autumn to Forever Spring and kept me from eternal winter. This is our song sweetheart. I'll finish it Hon. Believe in me as I believe in you. Mark

  • Cannot wait to hear this when i see it in Birmingham on Thursday..

  • I saw this at SECC last night... absolutely awesome performance

  • I first heard this at my uncle's house, at the tender age of 7. I have loved this song ever since. I too believe that when Jeff Wayne was writing 'War of the Worlds', he knew who he was writing the songs for.

    Pure Genius xxx

  • the head freaks me out!!

  • A timeless, Vibrant , exciting & stimulating musical extravaganza, a true visual masterpiece

This classic album brought to the stage in a live performance in nothing short of a miracle, the cast, musicians and J.W give their all in this production and it shows!

The DvD is superb, but being at the live show is awesome!!!, if you cant get to a show Buy the DvD,watch it on the biggest screen you can with a good sound system and you will NOT be dissappointed.

  • I've read the book but i don't remember the part on 6:25

I would surely remember that one!!!

  • Jo loves the Moody Blues x

  • Although not written by The Moody Blues , there is no doubt who Jeff Wayne had seen in his mind for this magnificent piece of music ! So much that most people think that it was written by The Moody Blues !!!!!

  • i listened to this when I was 12yrs old back when FM radio didn't suck. It was fantastic then and still is.

  • @busteranddexter i agree, it sucks now... God, i mis the good music from the time of war of the worlds and more...

respect also to Jeff Wayne for bringing us this classic story.

  • I saw this live at the 02 arena in the uk a few years back, was actually emotional when he sang this song :)

  • Does anybody know what synth is used in the solo?

  • can not wait to see the Moodies in Atlantic city in July

  • A very beautiful Song a Great Classic&MasterPiece. not even andrew lloyd webber could ever make a GREAT musical as the Legendary Jeff Wayne is simply GREAT webber should learn from Jeff Wayne for maybe 30+ years before webber would even be able to make something not even close to this Advanced& Beautiful Sci Fi Musical Masterpiece

  • @simpson30 Just searched and found that it's coming back to Nottingham in December 2010, off to book tickets now.......

  • @simpson30 they are showing it again this year (December)

  • better then the cd in my opinion :)

  • why is there never music made like this anymore??? This song is special to me too redmule......a loss perhaps????

  • The short answer is no -- no one has put the deep effort and vision (and blood sweat and tears) Jeff Wayne did to make this.

I SOOO want him to bring this to the States. But I suspect my arguments on other posts of this set of music has angered him, so he shall not make it so

  • agreed

  • the ultimate chill music.i can never get sick of it

  • @taz86919 TRUE

  • יצירת מופת!!!

  • This is awesome. Really takes me back. And that song is very special to me. Long long story...

  • special to me as well

  • Justin looks so handsome and Vicftorian,

in keeping with Well's story. If is odd to see him sing without his guitar but what a voice he has. I wish this would come to the U.S. Wayne is from NY. They say it is because the US is too big....COME ON!

  • absolute master piece, just fantastic, you wil not see coming anyting off this with this SHIT Generation

  • You are right Great masterpiece

  • As a young child, I played the album to death. The unscrewing of the cylinder used to scare the hell out of me!

  • you too aye ...

  • Thank you...I appreciate this post, you did really well

  • HOW GOOD....LEEDS UTD FC

  • Ik hoop dat de tour nog in Nederland komt

  • The only part I could tolerate was when "Forever Autumn" played. When I was little that was my favorite song. I haven't watched but a few seconds of this video, I'm not sure what parts are in it.

  • Almost the whole song is Forever Autumn. In the middle of the clip the orchestra plays the WOTW tune. But they did a great job with that, super cool to hear!

  • @hparcs ummm that is what is on the album.

  • @hparcs That's because this is how it was presented in the original War Of The Worlds, complete with Richard Burton's narration and other musical themes, including several cries of "ULLA".

  • Jesus Christ.

When I was about 5 and up, my parents would play the war of the worlds cd in the car. It used to scare the Hell out of me! And we had to listen to the whole thing. I was ashamed of being scared so I never said anything, I'd try to cover my ears unnoticably when the parts with the death rays came in. I'm 14 now and I still don't want to listen to it :]

No Nathaniel....Oh, No Nathaniel....No Nathaniel no....

    I remember that part well.

  • That's a shame really because it's a beautiful soundtrack, musically, but i can totally understand why you feel thisway. Five is really young to be exposed to this type of sound. I kind of feel a bit like that but i was a lot older when i first heard it!

  • I know. I can appreciate it now but back then it scared me :)

  • Saw this twice in Amsterdam. I've loved this album since it came out on LP.

Great show, and great to have Justin Hayward in for it!

  • I went back in time to my school age with this song, what a great gift!!!!

  • this song reminds me of my wife karen whos bday is in october and we always went hiking in new hampshire and now she is gone ...I miss you karen kearney-west 10/13/71 to 3/30/09
