I guess the ''toy gun'' M-16 was also better than a real soldiers rifle in the M-14, for the grunt conscripts (when they got a cleaning kit and when it wanted to actually fire). WW2 is much more my thing 'Nam is a side interest.

@m14Lover308 it was in vietnam but the troops couldn't contain its recoil on anything but semi-auto. the new varients have taken care of that somewhat. 1 shot one kill with an m-14 maybe 3-5 with m-16., beyiond a headshot. I agree with your statement but also the 7.62 ammo is a lot heavier ammo to lug around...and in a siege well its nice to have lots of ammo already on your body - black hawk down anyone?

@s4ndler97 its a very good all purpose rifle mate and has been used as sniper - great example "On Valentine's Day 1969, Mawhinney encountered an enemy platoon and killed 16 North Vietnamese Army soldiers with head shots from his M14 rifle.[1]" 16 headshots in 30 seconds with a starlight scope. Nowadays it seems to be given to a marksman/sharpshooter but plenty of special forces personel also seem to choose it regardless of mission.

GI's catching up with Philippines experience. Lots of Filipino troops had dump their M16's a long time ago. M14 stops with one shot, saves time and money. M14's had long been pistolized and mags extended in the Philippines. If I'm not mistaken, Philippines holds one of the biggest inventory of M14, in the world, in it's armory.

Finally gave up trying to make the M16 into a real gun and went back to the real thing. .30 cal just can't be beat, I don't care what numbers and statistics they come up with. When I have a perp behind a tree or brick wall, I want to reach out and touch him. A glorified .22 just won't knock chunks out like I want in real life. The .50 would be ideal if you could carry one. This is close enough for a battle rifle.

Love it!! At min. 2:03, I see two different barrel lengths.. It seems this rifle is sold with either an 18.5" or a 22" barrel.. Does anyone which barrel I'd have to select if I wanted to interchange the rifle it to a Troy Industries stock or the JAE-100 stock?

@gowdaflow its sold in three barrel lengths, 16 (Soccom 16), 18.5 (scout) and 22 (normal length). i would think any barrel size would fit a Troy Industries stock, but im more sure of it with the JAE-100.
