Thus we obey Him and also walk with and follow Him as He cares for and personally guides our hearts to do His will, and reflect Him in the world.
The reason some Christians reject this term, is because we have a different relationship to our Lord. He calls us son, daughter, servant, friend, disciple, and sheep of his pasture, with Shepherd as Himself. So we have a different, and intimate walk with our Messiah, and relate to Him in a special way.

Both the Father and the Messiah call us son and daughter.

@Leaf2812 Jesus has a number of titles in the Gospels, Friend. Prophet is one of them, but Messiah, Good Shepherd, Son of God, Ressurection, Life, Forgiver of Sins, Saviour, and Lord are more of them. So while Islam views Isa as a prophet alone, we view Jesus as far more than that.

A few more differences. The Messiah of the Gospels commands us to honor Him as we honor the Father and allows us to pray to Him (John 5:22-23 & John 14:13-14). The Isa of the Quran condemns Christians for the same (5:116). The Messiah of the Gospels has the attributes and names of God and is more than a mere human (John 11:25 & John 14:6-9) whereas the Isa of the Quran is a man like Muhammad. Not the same Prophet, not the same Messiah. Jesus is historical, Isa exists on the pages of the Quran.

The Messiah of the Gospels forbids killing or hurting by His disciples, even to defend Him or others (Matthew 5:38-48 and Luke 22:49-51).
