Aaliyah took her place. She kind of resembles her in a way...even her voice. So I think that they chose sexy and mysterious ova gentle and meek. Aaliyah came out in 1991. So maybe that had to something to do with it. Age ain't nothing but a number....is more of in-your-face kind of music that people get more hyped over. oppose to the innocent and soft R&B.
Tracey, now lives in Southern Cal and does some TV work every now and then. She was so damn hot at the time she did this song. She is sill hot just more beautiful and a killer smile that could melt the North Pole. We would all like to see her back, but its her call not ours ! This is a very hard and not always fair business, she is a real artist and a real talent !
I was a confused, clueless teenager when this came out. This song was a perfect backdrop for my often screwed up love life back then. Awww...teenage angst. I wish she would've done more too. Her voice is lovely.

Tracie is singing the shit out of this song. She is hitting every note from high to low and all in tune. This is back in the day when there was like a law against singing out of tune. Today it seems the more out of tune and off note and off key you are....makes you a superstar.
Beautiful tastefull music. She is a very talented girl and the industry slept on her. I loved her music voice and class. I wish they made more music like this now.

Your right Mr. L, I use to stay glued to BET back in the day. Who still remembers Midnight Love? They use to throw down late Saturday night after the club close.
This video brings back so many good memories of my teen years. This is when BET was great! Oh how sad it has become. This is before BET had trash ads and might even have been before they had commercials
Everything about this song is so right! The lyrics. The melody. How Tracie sings it. Even the video. Perfect, timeless, & classic! Absence of music like this is why I stopped listening to the radio, & I'm only 42!
D*mn if you didn't hit the nail in the coffin with this comment. I tried watching BET the other day for the first time in years. I was like WTF!!! Where's the good old school rap and old school r&b songs?
@2nd2nonebutmyself . Please don't get started with BET. The whole network needs to be reformatted. For example, look at 106 Park. The so called rappers insult each other, too confrontational. Look at the girls today, they are running around at the age of 12 looking old enough to get into bars...I know, I own one. As if it weren't possible when SHE was 14!!
@apries06 IT is true. She was 14 when her Make the Difference album came out. She was closer to 15 by the time this song hit #1 tho. She looked much older than what she was, but she was very young.
I remember when she came to my High School and they only let my grade go because she was our age, not the freshman, seniors etc. I'm not sure what grade I was in but mine went to the auditorium to see her perform. Afterward her hot brother went around with a mic to take questions from the audience, I asked one just so he would come over to me. I spoke with Tracie Spencer. I spoke to Tracie Spencer when I was in high school.
As an asian kid coming up in the 90s, gotta say the new jack swing R&B was the shit! Nowadays R&B is crap. If T-Pain is now considered R&B music has gone way down!
this is a decent song, music was good in the 80's but sadly it all changed in the 90s. some artists were still good from 1989-1992 but after that it just didnt get aired on a commercial pushing from the labels, due to them pushing the next big thing of hip hop and house causing artists to completely drop the nice soulful sound of the 80s (even early 90s in somecases) then indie completely took over - now its mostly indie, house/garage/rnb mixed with flip flop (i mean hip hop!)
@mrmrskth, you are so right, my ex-husband just dedicated this song to me...timeless music last longer. She is still reaping the benefits (royalties) because this song is real talk for real life and real people. Timeless!!!!
Wow! I actually had forgot about Tracie Spencer. I just happen to be listening to 92.3 the beat on my way to school and this song came on and I said I know this song. I knew the words and I was like who is this??? I google it and Tracie Spencer pop up. Unbelivable. I said sadly, had an awesome voice; but was a one hit wonder; for real.
This is my song for life, because I'm going through tender kisses right now!!! Crying tears right now!! :..( 90's was sweet miss it n wish time could go back.
i got to find this album i cant get from in front of my computer i just love her voice she bring tears to my eyes and yes im a man her voice is so pure i hope she comes back
i cant stop listening to this song tracie where ever you are i hope you come back and i get to see you sing this song and they need to put this back on the radio this is real music it never gets old thank you tracie
like back then this song staid in my head even when i was sleep last week i was with my oldiest and she was listen to music on youtube and i thought of tracie and know its in my head all over again i love it damm this song
i was 22 years old when she made this song and my first child was born, at that time God as sent us a angel from heaven thank you tracie please, please come back i miss you we all miss you your voice is won of a king
@girlbyeful Oh the girl from Everybody Hates Chris. Its ironic that she was born in 1992 and that is the year that this song in my opinion was at its hottest. It was one of my very first cd`s that I bought with Naughty By Nature in February 1992 with some left over money from my spring semester community college Pell Grant.
Love this song!! Best part 3:47 til it ends. Byyye Bayayaayaabee, good byyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye my loooooooooove oooooooooooooooooo haay haay haay haaaaaaaay......love it!!!! a classic definitely..
@prttygrl19 Ok I give up, who is the male vocalist on this song ? LOL . What ever happened, to the male vocalist , where did his voice go, girl don`t you really carrrreeeee?
