maybe you can use Alum, (potassium alum) I use it too. it instantly binds to the proteins of the skin after shaving, this way you never get spots or scarring.

I just use nair - straight up. They also make gentler depilatory creams for the face if that's too rough...

I shave in the shower, I use a lot of hot water, but a facial steam bath might work as good or better. There are a couple of good soaps for shaving and I make sure to really rub em in. Make sure you have a good sharp blade maybe even have one just for that area. Works for me atleast.

I have the *exact* same problem with the upper lip - I can only shave every second day or it gets crazy-irritated. This is one of the reasons I want to get started on electrolysis so bad! If you do get some tips, please pass them on!
