This mod is pretty cool. I'd like to mod my G3 iMac with a MacMini. But I have the problem to fit a 15 inch TFT in the case. How did you done it? Could you give me hint? Are there pics online?
if you are looking to make one of these, I used the tray disk loading iMac, not the slot loading iMac, as for the monitor, just don't get a widescreen monitor.
if you are going to use a regular TFT display, then the best video quality you could hope for is s-video - the point of this mod was for the higher quality VGA.
I doubt that I could. Finding the parts would be an issue.
I'm getting ready to sell this one, but it's not like I would be making a profit off of this - it took a long time to build, what ever I make off of it would most likely amount to less then minimum wage.
Please show another video with you showing the inside and explaining what you did to make this cool mod a reality. People like myself would enjoy that sort of thing. Good job by the way!
I had to extend the controller ports, relocate the monitor adjustment controls. Then I added s-video out, and added a audio amp to power the iMac's speakers.
then I had to relocate the power buttons for the LCD and Dreamcast, as well as add the volume control.
I want to do an isnes but if I put a snes, then I would probably have to mod it to get a nice video quality from it.

That's pretty amazing - you have any previous experience in engineering?

no, I've just been modding game systems for a while now:
region mods, s-video mods, console to JAMMA mods (to play in an arcade cab), superguns (to play arcade boards on a TV), etc, etc.

Could you please post the modelnumber of the iMac you used?
And is this a normal 15" TFT?

The bottom of the iMac says:
Family # M4984
825-4382-A
The monitor is a normal computer monitor (15").

check out the 'video responses' I took a vid of loading the games.
it seemed like a bit of a pain, but the more I've done it, it has become very easy.
although, I stuck Grandia II in the system, so it might not come out for a good 40 hours :D

it is not too bad;
