Micro Cube has a really clear sound, but it chokes a lot when you put the volume up. It's a cool amp for the money but if you can spare some more, I recommend at least a 30W.
I'm gonna buy a new amp next week and I really don't know what to. I am using the Digitech RP255 unit and my guitar - an Ibanez RG321MH. I wanna get a new amp for college where I will get into a serious band. Currently I own the Fender G-DEC Junior which is only 15 W. I was told to get a solidstate with a good clean, as I dont need effects on it.What whould I get ? Around 30-50 W and 200-300$ ? I've set my eyes on the Kustom HV30 and Kustom Quad65DFX.Or maybe a Hartke GT60c? I need for metal.
My marshall valvestate just broke so I really need a small practice amp in my room that handles distortion well and i was thinking about getting line 6 spider or microcube.. what do you guys think i should get?
Hi, what settings did you use for this metal sound, 'cause I'm no't getting very metallic sound outta MC. And I have heavy guitar, so that's not the problem. ;) Cheers!
My friend has one of these and it is one badass little amp. set to right standards, it sounds exactly like this. I played on a Fender Statocaster with EMG 81/85 pickups and it was bad ass. I'm gonna ask if he wants to sell it. :D
Im thinking of getting the cube street. I love the micro cube but I like how I can work on my vocals with the cube street and use it for a piano amp. I just hope it's not too loud for my apartment. At 5 watts im hoping not; I currently have a Peavey Vypyr 15 thats WAY too loud for my room.
Got this amp as my first. Highly reccomend it. The clean isn't bad, the R-fier kicks ass, the classic can be used for Sabbath and I even managed to play a bass through the Black Panel and make it sound a bit like a bass amp. Also has a lot of punch for being so small, and it runs on batteries if you don't have a plug close by! :D
yeah im useing this in combonation with an sg special and im trying to do a cover of evanescence whisper, how should i set the other settings? cuz it sounds like a tin can when i play
@r4revelution Love Atheist. I checked them out a few years back just because of their name, but no, on a direct record this is pretty much it. If I had a way to mic the amp it would have sounded more extreme. Try it at a store see if you like it.
had one of these little bastards for awhile. My fave models were classic stack and r-fier. I sold it and have probably already sold what I sold it for! Oh well. Great playing BTW. 5 stars.
Hey folks,i just got a "BBE SonicStompMaximizer" foot pedal that i plug my guitar directly into & then plug directly into the Roland Cube & if you want it to have more Highs & Bass as well, just crank the "Process" to full & "Contour" to one notch from full. and it simply makes this amp sound like its got 15watts & very powerful Chords & Notes!!!Believe me it's worth the investment cause you can take this these two pieces to any gig & run a line out to another Bigger Amp & just check the Sound!!
dude that sounded sexy as fuck nice riffing, for a lil over 100$ why the ass wouldnt you buy one of these just for the hell of it. Sweet demo real helpful in making a choice, 5*
Trapped Under The Ice; great fuckin tune man. Nice choice. Amp sounds great, playing was nice. Definitely interested, tired of having to cross the house in the dark at 2 in the morning to play on an amp that's too damn loud to play that late anyway. Looking for a portable, cheap, quiet practice amp.
I'm gazing into my crystal ball. What's this I see? Its showing me an alternate reality, one in which people don't need to have a thing in their possession in order to demonstrate its functionality. I see lowly paupers on the street, filming themselves sailing on 55 foot yachts that they don't own; little girls riding on ponies, posing for cameras whilst show jumping; day laborers getting their snow feet on bunny slopes before sitting down to a Cuban cigar and a brandy snifter.
I Have this guitar amplifier and i have the same exact metal sound!! At the beginning when i didn't have the amp i tough this vid is fake... but after i bought the micro cube i was like " HOLY SHIT!"
i have a some amp that only has 3 settings. gain. voulume, and tone.i want a heavy metal sound. but i dont want to buy a new one right. on a tight budget. if anyone knows any tricks to make my amp sound close to this please. it would be great
i have a lyan by wasburn. pretty much a run off gutiar. well im a begginer. i have no pedals at all and i donnt know what are pickups. but all i know is that i just want my amp so like this one in your vid wich was fucking awsome. but yeah what do you think i should do?
Pickups are the guitar's magnetic mics. the things underneath the strings where your right hand is. Look them up on google or something, then tell me if they're single coils or humbuckers. Oh yeah, what amp do you have?
Yikes! SCs. First: try screwing your pickups closer to the strings, as close as possible. Second: you could get a cheap overdrive or volume booster. Remember: more gain means more distortion. Third: get a distortion pedal, like metal zone or metal master, they can be had used on ebay for around 30-40 $s. Fourth: honestly, as long as you sound alright while playing along with a drum track or song, try not to obsess over the tone.
I have a roland microcube. I am a beginner but the r-fier sounds really muddy (palm muted) to me even when i set it to your settings. and you are definately getting that 80s metal sound that I want. The amp speakers are not broken because all other settings sound good. Have you tried hooking a mt-2 to the cube on clean channel? does that help? someone says it doesn't sound good below. But I am not trying to get the sound of tube amps just have the "crunch" and not muddy.
I have a microcube and I put a MT-2 in front of it and played it on the jc clean channel.
To be honest I didn't like it that much.
Although the sound gets clearer than on the r-fier setting, it lacks bottom end very much. And yes, I tried many different settings on the MT-2. I guess it's partly because the MT-2 has a very cold basic sound, because it still sounds cold when I put it with my tube amp. Personally, I would prefer the cube's r-fier!
Hey! Cool man! Could you please tell me if the cube has good bass? Because i want that deep Metal sound :) and if it has! It's really worth the money!! (Sorry, my english ain't good, im 13 and from sweden so :P)
As the boys and girls on The Atheist Experience say, your English is far better than my Swedish.
Bass? It's bassy enough for me, but for you? idk. I usually recommend trying equipment yourself at a local music shop, but I don't know what they're like around Scandinavia. Hopefully Roland's a big enough company to have a presence there.
Actually they are all around Scandinavia. I will try it the next time I visit a musicstore though, but the thing is... I'm a bit shy and I'm NOT good on the guitar... But well, if I go there with a friend or something, i'll try!
Swedish is the hardest language to learn. That's why my English is better then your Swedish =D
At our local music store, we could only test effect pedals on cube's (15 and 30 watts)
they all sounded like abunch of CRAP, i wouln't buy a roland cube if you want to put effects over them, because the roland does not have a real good clean.
It sounds nice when playing clean, but clean + distortion pedal sounds horrible.
(Tested Digitech Hot head on it, and DS1, and DS2, and MT2, and some more bosses, everything sounded awfull)
btw, don't buy a cube 15 cause it f***ing sucks! When I put the "metal" mode on it sounds like a decent distortion but with guitar volume down even though I have it all the way up. micro cube is A LOT better.
i'm going to buy the roland cube 30x... I don't like the line 6... But its just my personal opinion... I think the roland is better (sorry for my bad english)
Hey man I have big problems with the correct settings to get the best metal sound out of the cube... can you explain how you set the cube to get that sound, pls??
I can get the exact same tone thats shown here on this video but you need another amp and an extra cable....take the extra cable and plug one end into the back of the micro cube where it says rec out/phones then plug the other end into your extra amp..and youll notice a big difference in your sound ..i recommend lowering the tone knob on the micro cube very low to like 2 or 3...or you can just do it like this guy on here i believe he tells you how to do it in his video description
Also theres another way i can get a better metal sound on my micro by lowering the tone knob on the amp to like 2 or 3 and adding a slight slight touch of delay almost nothing..id say like a little under 1 and cranking up the amp a bit louder but not too loud that should really improve your tone
Nice i have one of these myself i have the Limited edition.. (red lol) and jw what guitar are you using to play? at the moment i have a decent guitar with low end pickup's and it doesnt sound that good Lol
I answered this question lower in the comments, but I'll reiterate: $200 ESP H-50, stock pickups, with 10-46 strings. Also I recorded direct to the computer through the amp's headphone jack.
The guitar does NOT make the music, the GUITARIST makes the music.
hey man ... thx ofr the demo , its my next buy for sure ... jsut love the sound ..... one question ... would taking the chassis out of the box a hard job you think ... i would only like the chassis as i would play through heapdhone and would take less place ... do you think the chassis can be remove easily .
I get the feeling English isn't quite your first language, but if you just want to play through headphones the amp is small enough to take anywhere. No disassembly required.
is already decided, I will buy one MICRO CUBE... it kick ass!!! But i have some questions: who is second, third, fifth (I think that's SLAYER... Wrong?) and the last riffs? LOL you thought it was on the amplifier? Thanks...
thanx for letting us hearing this thing in action! what guitar and pickups are you using?

Sounds good. I was thinking of buying this one, but instead I bought the Roland 15x cube because it had just a little more quality.

Maaannn, I'm a Brazilian Guitarist...
is already decided, I will buy one MICRO CUBE... it kick ass!!! But i have some questions: who is second, third, fifth (I think that's SLAYER... Wrong?) and the last riffs? LOL you thought it was on the amplifier? Thanks...

2nd: Valley of the Damned - DragonForce
3rd: Laid to Rest - Lamb of God
5th: Ignition - Trivium (slowed down a bit)
The last few riffs are New Found Glory songs. They're a punk/pop band.

What kind of guitar are you playing on? It sounds great!!!

I'm using a $200 ESP H-50 with stock pickups. Remember: the man makes the music, not the guitar.
