@hommefriday I have the new broadway cast recording version and this sounds just like the one in my cd, so I suppose it's Marin Mazzie. Amazing voice, isn't it? ^^)b
This is absolutely brilliant!! Thanks for matching a terrific love song with a 'phantastic' love story! Cole Porter is the composer, who passed away in 1964. The actors are the dreamy Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum. Don't know the singer.
This is the best version of this song on youtube..perhaps the best version I have ever heard. When did this version of Phantom of the Opera come out..do you know who the male and female leads are? Thank you again for this post! It is marvelous.
for those of you asking who is singing this it's Rachel York from the revival of Kiss Me Kate. Cole Porter wrote the song, and many people have performed it.
There's a great version by Ella Fitzgerald in Ella sings Cole Porter's songbook. She is at her top, but, what a shame, the arrangement is an overflowing mess of sounds and effects and superfluous bling-blangs everywhere through all the tune. It was the time of Fitzgerald's topest vocal level. That's the reason for I can't understand how they could approve such a bloodcurdling arrangement. But she is greatest!
Her version breaks my heart. All the others seem a little more.....hopeful, or mutually in the same head over heels, desperately in love kind of love.
oh...haha, well i just downloaded it and it said the artist's name was cole porter..so i just supposed.then i guess i don't know! but i love this version the best.
ah...not to be a wise ass or anything....but Cole Porter was a man. = ) He did compose the song however = ) I love the song. You should see the movie delovely, its about him!
brutally beautiful!

Anybody know the name of the singer? Both voice and diction so clear and sung with feeling.

Très belle interprétation. La meilleure peut être? Le film se prête parfaitement à la chanson de C.Porter.
Bravo.

I had to wait K.D. Lang rendition before the Fitzgerald's version was equalized. Well! K.D. Lang's is the first greatest new version. Topest.

I think that Webber gets the "idea" from this song written by Cole Porter. Just listen to the lyric , and the melody. Beautiful song!
