  • Thanks for the post.

  • Excellent video! Too bad you never see Nick's face! Just his hands doing his amazing synth work...

  • JAPAN ripoff

  • @bearcagela

you mean a half-assed JAPAN rip-off. But in their defense I do recall reading an interview where they said JAPAN was a main influence.

  • 1:18,<3John AND Andy Best band EVA

  • Still one of my fave Duran records. First heard on a waltzer at the local fair in1981. I knew they they'd be a massive 80's band! John Taylor was and still is totally scrumptious!!

  • legend

  • great bass ..

  • I was a child and so in love with this music..... they were true musicians lots of passion there...

  • I love this song sooo much

  • I'm so digging the 1981 le Bon dance moves!

  • New Romantics forever!!!

  • yummy!!!!! ROGER TAYLOR a great drummer and sooooooo hot. I could sit and watch him play those drums all day

  • I wonder if the DEAD FISHES that were sat realized years later they were witnesses of MUSICAL HISTORY ...this was DURAN FXXKING DURAN CARAJO !!!!!!!!!!!

  • THIS GROUP THREW DISCO RIGHT OUT OF LOS ANGELES IN 1981 ,

  • Brilliant!!!

  • no offense but (amongst the Duran Duran fans) John Taylor is overrated, Roger is really overlooked :(

  • Simon looks so sweet in those head bands!!! Mmmmm!!!

  • sounds like quiet life by Japan

  • this song is on a video and we watched it today in science and until then, i'd never even heard it before! it's a great song :)

  • 3:49 John Taylor, the boss at the bass!

  • New Romaticks,I like D-D.

  • I love watching the videos from the really early days, they are all so cute and ready for stardom. Also I love simon's funky dance moves! He's so cute. :)

  • Sooooooooo cute!!!!! ;P

  • i remember these days

watching cardiff city and taking the pills lol

  • Back in early 1981 were talking october , a friend came up to me while I was at Leicester Polytechnic and said want to see a group tonight in the students Union ? I replied " what are they called " , he saidd " i think it's a thing like Duran ran or something like that" , I said " What a crap name! " I went that night to the gig , They turned up , I thought 'here we go what a bunch of posers ! Tthey played three garbage songs , then this one Planet earth. I knew they were going to be big !

  • Big mistake it was my first year 1980! Not 1981, were talking 29years ago! A month later they were I think in the top ten in the charts and N°1 was Fashion by David Bowie if I am yet brain dead! There were singers like Tot=ya Wilcox and all that new wave stuff brilliant music , fabulous times the early 80's. a pint was Seventy pence , a pack of fags 55 p for fecks sake!

  • thanks for sharing that

  • God I still love these guys after all this time-timeless, classic and Oh yeah, John Taylor-hubba hubba!!!

  • Best bassist: John Taylor

Best front man on a stage: Simon Le Bon

  • anyone else think Quiet Life by Japan is where this song came from?

  • at the very least they had to have been really inspired by it. both are great tracks!

  • the only similarity is the looping jupite 8 synth - which both duran duran and japan took off roxy muisc/dance music of the middle to late 70s but all the other arrangements to quiet life are not remotley similar - and i have paid a very close inspection to the styles. duran duran are far mor guitar edge/rock sound and funky bass where japan are more subtle in nuances of the sythn and bass and guitar. thats the biggest difference and of course, the melodies are not even close.

  • I love this - was a huge fan of Duran back in the 80's...........saved this video to my favourites!!

  • Check out the Dandy warhols...

    you were the last high.....

  • I can't take my eyes off Simon << 3

  • john taylor is so freaking beatiful

  • Wow, I've never seen this before. The energy is off the chart, powerful performance. For me, this seems much better than anything on Arena.

  • my favourite all time band. :)

  • Duran Duran is still and awesome band!!!!!!

  • This is planet earth!

  • from 3:47 and on: only Duran Duran can do that.

    3:59 - LeBon: 'earth! rachachachachacha'

    Great video!

  • John Taylor what a great underated bass player. Makes the song!!!!
