Man do I hate the whole "say every mundane thing you see" theory of starting engines. The whole process should be 3 phrases long FE: "#X to ground" FO: "30... 5" FE: "Starter cutout". No more, no less.
This really gives you an idea of how far we've come in aircraft design in just 50 years. Flight engineers are obsolete now on modern aircraft, which mostly use a two pilot "glass" cockpit, that has far less switches, and much more computer and automatic functions. In fact, the "glass" cockpit design, which was introduced on the 767 and 757, came only just over two decades after the first Boeing 707s and DC-8s took to the sky. Plus, we went from low-bypass to high-bypass ratio turbofans fast.
Who the fuck are these guys?. They are not pilots nor an FE

We have a 727 at our school here in Fla. Fully operational. What a awsome teaching aide!

I found this fascinating. The chap teaching obviously knows his subject intimately. Thanks for uploading.

We have a 727 at my school that we just get to learn on and play around with. Just for fun. This was actually for an engines and systems class.

What is it? A just for fun introduction for starting engines on a B727? Or hands on training after finishing type rating?
