  • Reminds me of avioding the cops on GTA in the desert near Las Venturas

  • Race's final is funny, cessna could have advanced with a touch of trottle

  • LAND THE PLANE MAN THE PLANE MAN

  • this makes flying a 152 seem soo much cooler than it is

  • if he pulled those flaps he'd go a hell of a lot faster, hahaha

  • @wbsnakes i was thinking the same thing

  • Iron Eagle is so damn awesome ... a movie that only could be made in the 80s !!! haha

  • the plane mustve been flying at top speed whickis like100 Knots. The bike would also be doing around the same.

  • best scene in the movie. i pressed the previous scene button too many times on this movie

  • HEY D WHY DONT U JUST LAND ON THE FOOL AND GET IT OVER WITH!

  • ATC: Cessna Niner Eight Two Eight Juliet, Do you have a pen and paper need you to call this number. :D

  • Come on Reggie, give me a break!

  • I have always wondered why these High School Kids have aircraft, and when did riding a POS Honda make you cool?

  • You don't call him "D". You call him Doug Masters. Only Reg gets to call him "D".

  • 2:07 - 2:16 How on this God's Earth did that pilot make that plane do that?! Amazing.

  • very cool movie....

  • must of been before a cessna costs $300,000 :-)

  • 11 people were not old enough for Rock N Roll

  • ass to those rocks

  • Art Schol......what a sick pilot...so much skill and balls

  • "What's up with the notch-head?"

"Well, he almost started a new career - as a hood ornament..."

    HAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

    Another great line...

  • RIP Art Scholl. Blue skies forever.

  • 2:03 - i think this movie was quite disrespectful of Jimmy Branson. I personally flew with Jimmy many times and when he bought it on that cliff, almost no one even came to the funeral.

  • They made him look like a student pilot trying to land.

  • I think the FAA would 1. Have a nice little chat with me. 2. Ask me if I know the FARs are!! None the less shove that throttle and peg it at 149 knots and keep jamming to those tunes cause shes zoomin!!!! LONG LIVE GA!!!!

  • Micheal Bowen (Knotcher) is in his 30s here. This is the same guy who played the father of the gameshow kid in Magnolia.

  • Wow Rainey Haines song really isn't lame, just had to listen to it a few times to get the feel, her bio says she was considered for the role opposite Michael J. Fox in the film "Light of Day" now that's impressive, cuz that movie was really good, and the character role ended up going to Joan Jett.

  • "Jammin' D!!!"

  • Btw,, is at 4:42 a hachi roku in the background?

  • after flying a 152 for some times i can say.... holy f**k that hammer was awesome. that pilot is a couple eggs shy of a basket.

  • Man I miss this fucking movie

    PULL UP "D"!!!!

  • @Coldmystery Yeah me too.

  • Doesn't Dougie die in the 2nd movie? That's awesome!

  • @miketacoma5 Yes & No. He dies 'Officially' in the first 5min, but he comes back in I.E. 4(played by a different actor). He apparently ejected @ the last second. got pissed off about it and left the Air Force.

  • @mothafraker ......and I thought I knew too much about these movies.

  • @miketacoma5 I was obsessed with Iron Eagle. A kid flying a fighter plane? AWESOME!!!!!!! And since I was 11 when I saw it in the theater in '84, I knew it was totally possible.

  • @mothafraker I hear what you're saying. As rediculous as these movies are, they represent all that was '80's....I can't look away.

  • Can anybody say what song it is in this scene,d

    Thanks

  • @Boogaertsjeffrey "Old Enough to Rock & Roll".

  • Awesome scene! In this movie Jason Gedrick seems like Pegasus Seiya!.. The clothes were the same!!

  • Doug Masters uses 10 degrees of flap at the end because he feels sorry for Knotcher...and to keep his Cessna 152 Aerobat in the air so that whinely dirt bike can keep up...

  • That C152 Aerobat it's great flying so low!!

  • 0:44 What does the guy say? "The music is German???"

  • @Exverlobter Jammin' D!! =)

  • lol...in a race and he lost time with manouvers...lol....the best take with r/c toys...i love this scene...lol...

  • 0:45 What do you call a Black guy that fly's a plane? A pilot you racist

  • "Hey D why don't you just land on the fool and get it over with."

  • Reggie: "Hey D why don't you just land on the fool and get it over with."

  • "well he almost started a new career as a hood ornamant"

  • Art Scholl even had the folks at Cessna scratching their heads wondering how he pulled this off...

  • @da40flyer1

    Haha, really?

    Thats awesome

You wouldnt happen to have a link or anything

  • Comment removed

  • I love how "PUT HIM IN A BODY BAG!" is in this scene

  • Brilliant segment.

How can you not want to fly that cute Cessna after seeing this.

  • "flyin yes, dyin...no"

  • This scene always made me thought the flying was insane. Then I started learning how to fly the Cessna and now I'm just at a loss for words.

  • Shit I wish I can fly a Cessna 150 like that!

  • That's right Doug, a few wing overs is just the cure for a missing/loose oil cap.

    Land the plane man!

  • Some of the best piloting I have ever seen in a cessna 150. Both machines were beast.

  • Art Scholl R.I.P. 1931–1985. Pilot of N9828J - 1975 Cessna 150 Aerobat. Great movie stunt pilot. My first plane to train in was a 1969 150 Aerobat and later got my license in a 150. Art Scholl is forever missed at air shows and in movies!!!

  • I'm not quite sure what it is that I just watched...

  • Im learning on a 172 and i actually raced some dude on a motorcycle. Nothing like this of course he was on taxiway i was on runway

  • Awesome!!

  • 0:43 Oh Man, that music is jammin' B!

LOL The song does sound pretty good in this scene, but pretty much sucks on it's own. Funny how that happens in movies :)

  • I watched this so many times I learned to fly a 150.

  • You all know that you wanted to be doug when you were a kid...me too....why? cause he was f...ing awesome!!!!!

  • What ever happend to cheese in modern day movies :-(

  • @Cobracommander1986

The 80's ate all the cheese. Doug Masters oozed greasy American oil based cheese product.

  • Everytime I watch this , keep wanting to say " Come on Art , pick up the flaps , drop the nose , and pass him already... ! " RIP Art Schol , awesome pilot , nice too , got his autograph at an airshow long time ago . That hammerhead turn he does against the rocks = amazing !

  • the best 80s movie ever "huh, i can't hear ya" *punch to face* "can you hear me now ?!" haha

  • @disengagejam I'm pretty sure this movie was the inspiration for the Verizon Wireless commercials.

    Can you hear me now?

  • @SpinKicksusplits86 lol hell yeah

  • TUUUNEEEE!!! :D

  • that's not the main road!

  • i love this movie! i'm only a freshman in highschool and i wish they would make more movies like this know-a-days!

  • So much cheese u could cover a whole macdonalds burger supply...this bad boy was the one, makes top gun look like jimbo and the jet set..... When I first saw this I wasn't old enough to rock n roll but I was old enough to go out n buy myself a douggie masters bomber jacket and tell people I was takin flyin lessons... Lol, they don't make em this good any more....pure class!!!!

  • I've flown Cessna singles 150 thru 208 Grand Caravan and got licenses through CFI probably because I saw this very scene as a little boy in the theater. Given the plane, and his proximity to the terrain this is probably the best aerobatic act ever! Nothing near this awesome in TOP GUN. RIP to Art Scholl. I never knew his name or that he died in a later flight. I'll just remember him for proving that Cessna singles do in fact rock!

  • Comment removed

  • "what'd you do to his engine you freak!?" lol. I'd be shakin' like a tree under that type of interrogation. lmfao. great classic movie though.

  • 5:50 to 5:55 Verizon totally stole that line!!!

  • @Movierader LOL!

  • hey doug, knothcers cut thru on the fire road.....

  • Now that is one kick ass pilot

  • Doug's Girlfriend??? Melora Hardin also Jan Levinson-Gould from the American Office.

  • @hanscombe72 Wow. I'm usually good at picking things like that up, but totally missed that one. Good call.

  • fck awesome vid

  • Pure 80's cheese!! Yay!!

  • I loved this movie back then, man it's so cheeeezyyy! LOL

  • SUUUCH A FEEL GOOD TUNE!!! Feel like doing a million miles an hour lol!!

  • flying yes, dying no..

  • well he almost started a new carrear as a hood ornament

  • Art Scholl...I love the hammerhead stall that he does...Camera placement was almost perfect...made it look like he slid right up the face of the cliff, stalled over, kicked the rudder over, and right back down the face. A Master Pilot...Rest in Peace

  • So shocked when this song was not on the album!

  • @birddogtx My thoughts exactly, I found the LP in a shop in Sydney Aus. in the late 80's. This and of course one vision by queen were the tracks that made this movie.

  • 2:48

    keep jammin to the tunes!!!

  • THAT BIKE IS MOVEING I DONT CARE WHAT U SAY

  • Classic... Just Classic this is one of the all time great movies with the music they just dont do it like this anymore

  • The thing that scares me the most is how close his wing tip gets to the ground when he is "landing" after the race. RIP Art, we have movies like this where we can truly appreciate your talent.

  • I can't hear you - punches dickhead in face - can you hear me now ?!

    haha man - I love the 80s !!!!!!

  • This is the greatest non-military based airplane scene in film ever!

  • I'd like that black guy to say things like that to me everytime I drove to work

  • 8 PPL wasnt Old Enough to Rock an Roll ^^

  • WHAT A FUCKIN RACE, WHAT WERE THEM 8 PPL WATCHING

  • the thumb up is the "Awsome button"

  • Im gonna guess the guy is on an XR600? It's defintely a 4-stroke for sure.

  • @krsongs It's an XR350R. Still a very capable bike. :-)

  • @postie2003 I guess you can tell this from the smaller headlight? BUT... did you see the wheelies he was doing? You sure an XR350 can do that?

  • All the best to Art Scholl, one of the best stunt pilots ever. Look his death up online, it's what he would have wanted. Long Live Art Scholl!

  • All the best to Art Scholl, the awesome stunt pilot in the Cessna. Died in a horrible crash later on. We all could learn a bit about stunt flying from Art. Coincidentally enough, Art (a pilot also) is my father's name.

  • I don't think I'll ever be old enough to rock and roll this hard.

if anyone knows of any, and I mean ANY, song more awesome than this one, please speak up now.

  • The cessna is a very durable aircraft, heck the military used them in 1940's to about the 1970's. I believe that aircraft used in this scene is a cessna 172, this aircraft has a top speed of about 220mph. It is possible to fly a plane that is losing oil pressure for as long as the kid did.

  • @Killermoth1 The aircraft is a Cessna 150/152 Aerobat. My uncle had one. It would do maybe 105 knots firewalled on a good day. :) I used to own a Towahawk like the black kid was flying (yes, yes, I know he wasn't really flying it). i never tried to barrel roll it though; they had nasty stall characteristics, even with the stall strips installed.

  • @flatspin11 Do you know one of the nicknames of the Tomahawk is the Traumahawk?

  • @robghansen Yeah, I used to get a lot of ribbing at the airport about that. My plane would drop its left wing over 30 degrees in a stall, even with the stall strips installed. Even thought they were cleared for spins, they could enter an unrecoverable flatspin after 4-5 turns. But it was much faster than a Cessna, I could cruise at 115 knots at 75% (mine had the 125hp engine), and see 1200 fpm climb solo with half fuel. It was a great plane.

  • @flatspin11 You ever do a spin in a Citabria? It's a fun plane to do spins in. Hell, its a fun plane all around.

  • @robghansen Never spun one. Flew a friends one time. Took a while to get used to a stick when everything I've flow had yokes. He took off and landed of course, I'm not signed-off for tail-draggers. It had very nicely balanced controls. I don't really like high-wing aircraft. I like to be able to see where I'm going in a turn. I really liked the Cessna Cardinal I flew once though. Sweet plane and great visibility for a high-wing. Wish I'd bought one 12 years ago when they were in the $45k range.

  • @flatspin11 Yes, it is a little difficult getting used to a stick, and yes, it would have been nice to buy a cardinal back when it was a little more........AFfORDABLE

  • @flatspin11 isnt that plane a piper cherokee

  • @josef733 - Nah it looks more like a Cessna 152 Aerobat.

  • @RoninHawk no im taking about the plane at 0:16

  • @josef733 - Oh ok....that one there is a Piper Tomahawk.

  • @RoninHawk It looks alot like a cherokee

  • @josef733 - Fraid not, sir. The only features those two aircraft really have in common is their low wing.

  • @RoninHawk and the bubble canopy

  • @josef733 - Fraid not either, sir. Piper Cherokee does not have a bubble canopy.

  • @RoninHawk ok i admit ure right but both planes are COOL

  • @josef733 - Yep, both are very cool.

  • @RoninHawk whats good about the plane selection is that the 3 planes are quite different from each other except for the fact the each plane has an average cruise speed of 105 knots

  • @RoninHawk and whats the plane at 0:11

  • @josef733 - Thats a Citabria. Also used for aerobatics.

  • @RoninHawk kinda looks like a j3 cub. similarities are seat position overwings and a little bit of the landing gear

  • @RoninHawk That´s a Piper tomahawk buddy...

  • @pichueka - No shit bright boy, Thats what I said it was.

  • @RoninHawk hahahaha... looks like you need to get yourself a vagina dude, and all you said was that it wasn´t a cherokee... see ya around roninfag.

  • @josef733 Piper Tomahawk

  • they guy who played Kotcher was the sheriff in "Walking tall" w/ Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

  • What the fuck? That plane should have flew away like nothing from that bike. Unless he had like a Busa or ZX14 it shouldn't have been close. Most of those Aircrafts will outrun most cars. Even Sports cars.

  • @vfIskullangel

Yeah the plane was slowed down considerably, it's about as slow a Cessna as you'll find, and it'll still do over 100 mph. When you see the flaps down on the approach to the finish line, you know the pilot's flying slow.

  • Why are you making my mixture so rich?

  • i would feel comfortable having Styles and Lamar Latrell as my wing men

  • Knotcher is also "Buck who likes to fuck" from Kill Bill!

  • Man i loved this movie as a kid countless of hours of entertainment.

Hell i probably knew this movie and TopGun by the age of 4 hahahah

Still makes me mad they killed Doug in the second one!!!!

Seriously tho. In this movie he take on a army, lost his wing man in the first half

    and still kicked ass!!!

In the second Iron Eagle they should of just left the Doug out of it if he wasn't going to be in all of the movie.

Instead the douchebag writers kill him of in the first scene.

  • wow..... this part is soooooooooooooooo much cooler the millionth time.

  • Cessna flown By The Professor. Art Scholl

  • 1:17 to 1:30 IoI!!!

  • Knotcher got off easy. Dog only punched him once, rather than beating the living shit out of him.

  • If only real life was this fucking cool! lol

  • @postie2003 it can be.

  • 2:42 to 2:50 A W E S O M E i love flying...

  • Fuckin classic!

  • who rode the motorcycle? He was good. poor art

  • This movie was a total childhood inspiration for me. Once I got old enough to ride dirt bikes and fly single engine airplanes, I realised the harsh reality of the world, and that is I would never be this cool.

  • mahtavaa !!!!!!!

  • This film was not bad, but some really cheesy scenes in it sometimes!

  • I didnt get it! This idiot break the plane and the other one take the punch?

  • Hey its the BODY BAG dude from Karate Kid!

  • The kid who sabotaged Doug's plane is also famous for his line in Karate Kid.

    Get em a body bag!

  • @SpinKicksusplits86 He is an ass in every movie he is in! LOL

  • what

  • Comment removed

  • Hey Cff121 shut the fuck-up, he is a pilot and thanks for serving USAF all the way!!!!

  • @65JD5010 Thank you!

  • You guys are all total losers who have the idea that all pilots are Tom Cruise and they're not. Thanks for playing and being on the show and I hope some day you get to kiss a girl

  • @friskycake well they aren't all Tom Cruise, there are a few Val Kilmer's out there too

  • same here already did it. and lived. i even included the music. lol
