Elizabeth Montgomery is one of the only great actresses in history, although I put her as number 6 in my top 10 she is still one of my favorites, and I always loved her as Samantha in Bewitched since I first saw her on that show when I was 10.

Liz was always beautiful. But if you want to see her in her absolute prime, check out the Johnny Staccato episode "Tempted" from 1959. She's in her mid-20's and absolutely flawless and stunning, a perfect 10.

We will never have another Elizabeth Mongomery. She was one of the most beautiful women in TV or movies. In fact I would say she was the tops. She worked very hard on Bewitched. She was in all 254 shows. Most remakes of a movie or TV show never match the first. If you type in Rebecca Asher her daugther you will pull some family pictures of the Asher family. The producers of "Bewitched" originally considered using Sinatra's "Witchcraft" as the theme song, then decided against it because of the expensive licensing fee they'd have to pay each week. So they commissioned their own theme song, but only used the orchestral version for the series. The vocal version was later recorded by Steve Lawrence (heard here) and by Peggy Lee.

One of the "related videos" is about Jane Fonda, who remided me of Liz in both looks and voice. But I much prefer Liz because she was warmer and more charming. She was also involved in a lot of idealistic projects without trying to seem morally superior to others. I even think Liz, if you look at all her appearances in live TV from the 50's and TV movies from the 70's-90's may have been the better actress. I'm surprized that Liz never made it as a major movie star in her own right.

@44032 As an actress, I like Jane Fonda very much, but I can't make the mental connection between them in either looks or voice, other than to say that they were both very lovely and talented actresses. I guess financially, Lizzy did very well from part ownership of "Bewitched" (and inheritence from her dad, I believe) and so she carefully chose projects that interested her and only acted when she wanted to. She certainly could have had a brilliant film career, had she chosen to do so.
