While this *looks* like a racoon, it's actually supposed to be a racoon-dog or "tanuki," which isn't even the same species as a racoon. This is where the "Tanooki Suit" in Super Mario 3 comes from. They are considered mischeivous shapeshifters. Japanese temples and restaurants often have tanuki statues outside as good luck charms, and these statues usually have big bellies and sometimes big testicles.

@xarcaz Aw, poor you. Just because you like to be an ignorant fuck doesn't mean other people do. Many people like to learn about history, culture, mythology and tradition. If you're not learning something new every day, you're fucking yourself in the ass. You should try a little growth & discovery. It will do you wonders.

You're being a smart ass by bitching about a minor detail that is as equally colloquially correct as calling an 'opossum' a 'possum' (which is incorrect taxonomically). I'm a trilingual, I've lived in Japan, and have both a wide range of interests as well as knowledge in various fields (including various cultures and linguistics). So I'd beg to differ regarding me being ignorant.
