In the depths of her sleep Alcyone stirred, as her eyes continued to twitch in the deepening nightmare. With the slowly passing seconds, in her minds eye she could see the cloud of engulfing darkness materialise into five different entities. She witnessed each one gradually take on the shape of a winged, wolf-like creature . . .
00RockChick, good question. Even 1 month in space has a negative impact on the human skeletal system. We would need to simulate gravity's effect on the body to maintain our bone density. I believe the 'Greys', (skinny, little 4 foot aliens with the big heads and eyes) were genetically engineered to be able to travel through space for long periods without the health issues that humans get in a zero-G enviroment. So could we survive? Probably not - at this stage, but here's hoping :)
Thanks, SulthanaB226, that's a nice thing to say. Honestly i think being good to other people is all that matters. I know many 'smart' people but if they're not good to other humans they are not much at all. Life's about the amount of good energy we can give to others. What we put out, we get back. So if you send out love, love is what you receive. Btw, i love you all :)
One of the main problems with deep space missions is lack of gravity. So far nothing has been made to simulate artificial gravity in outer space. Astronauts get bone and muscle decay inside the International Space Station, for example. To generate artificial gravity you have to rotate your spacecraft, that's why this ark is spinning on its axis as it flies thru space.
Could you survive thousands of years? If your biosphere is well designed and you can keep it warm and bright - there is hope :)
Interesting name for the novel - it would catch my attention; and a good choice in music. It might look more realistic if you add some star effects on the background - just a thought. Well done again :)
Asteroids are awfully dark and ugly creatures, even if you use their regoliths as only a part of your spacecraft. Check my favourites for examples of this. They are also often potatoey in shape.
that's awesome!!! I really liked it
The only suggestion I had would be to hook up some fiber optic lights in the background to emulate stars.
