I totally agree that they could have taken Cassidy and his abuse, and made a great storyline sans psychotic behaviour. BUT Veronica Mars isn't really about taking a character and building its storyline. It's more like a cop show, solve cases and move on.

no actually they did do that it just wasn't revealed til his death as he pointed out how it affected him alot besides move on with a case? the first to seasons ealt with one mystery story arcs.
