Love creedence-Age 50- why the fuck do I have to see Obama when I watch the videos? That guy is KILLING our country. Do I have to be subjected to that fuckers picture everytime I watch my favorite band? Then fuck it, I'll never watch it again.....fucking lib mother fuckers
I absolutely love this cover of Night time! John Fogerty feels his work. He was and is one of America's great songwriters and singers. His style is unique and joyful.
have you ever seen the rain... oh! poor boy shuffle!! poor boy shuffle!!! " down on the corner, 0ut in the street, willy and the poor boys b singing drop a nichol at chor feet"... and my favorite, bad moon rising! " don't come around tonight, 'cause it's bown to take yer life, there's a bathroom on the right"!! oh yah!!... :)
@hotmn4u i don't remember molina, but i'm going to go check it out right after i listen to sweet htchiker, 'cause i know i like that one, but i forgot all about it. put a spell on you is my favorite i think, but heard it through the grapevine and about 15 others could be. i just wish i could have gone to see them with suzy agrusa back in 1968 when we were 14. i forgot if it was at the "cow palace" or filmore, but she said they cleared the chairs from the floor so everyone could dance!
my father listened this song when I was a child..thanks father for show me those amazing songs..without you I never had known creedence clearwater revival
@MsLarrymoe cool, and i had all there albums! i knew every word to all their songs. they were the hottest thing going when i lived up in the bay area, 1968, '69. it seems like they always had a #1 on the charts, and the radio station had scott st. james, who would have a train and a train whistle and he would say," the scott st. james express..... is SmoKin'!! and then go right into 'i put a spell on you" and although i was only 13, it would make me want to jump up and start breaking things!
@m1kewithaone great! I was crazy with CCR for a long time even I used to wear the same look of fogerty's hair also john fogerty was in my country recently and I didn't go to the concert...this was a great mistake
Nothing much better than this.. But he is Lip-Singing this one for sure.. If you listen to the backup voices.. It's his voice in the background vocals, as usual for Credence records.. Never the less.... He got Soul in his bones for sure
There are only 2 or 3 people in the audience who are really getting into the song and rocking out (1:14 top left of the screen). Love his head bopping. That's what this song makes you do. The rest of the bunch are hardly moving. I don't know how they could sit there and not move. It's an impossibility.
According to Lyricsfreak they sing "wah-do-day". It's "night and day" in the Ray Charles version. Great song, hope Fogerty will play it again one day.
what a voice of a white guy, never heard it from john fogerty always thought it was originally from ike and tina turner. thanks for this great clip, just love it
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Eeek! John Fogarty was ALWAYS truly brilliant & very talented, but there are some songs that are meant to be touched by other artists, and this is one of them. It's like 50 Cent singing Neil Diamond music. It just doesn't fit...no offense to any hard-core CCR fans.
NOT live...no way. They're miming to the studio version, note for note. If nothing else, notice that the backing vocals are 100 percent John Fogarty. Stu Cook and Tom Fogarty never sang a note on a CCR recording (well, until Stu sang lead on his own songs on "Mardi Gras," anyway). It was all John.
Tom Fogerty and Stu Cook provided backing vocals on the chorus of 'Proud Mary', 'Down On The Corner, 'Up Around The Bend', and 'Who'll Stop The Rain', 'The Midnight Special' and this song.
What's your source for this assertion? I have read that John Fogerty did ALL back-up vocals on all Creedence recordings. My ears certainly tell me that the back-ups on this and all the other ones you mentioned are Fogerty. If you have a source that definitively says otherwise, I'll retract my comment.
** MIX Magazine: "After the rhythm tracks were completed by the full band, Fogerty would return to furnish his lead vocal and *all* overdubs — everything from *background vocals* to piano, tambourines, keyboards and percussion...The band would not be involved in background vocals overdubs, in fact, until Cosmo's Factory's Who'll Stop the Rain. ** Since all you mentioned except "Bend" predate this album (and it's not cited specifically), this casts doubt on your claim. I will research further!
Were "Down On The Corner" and "Fortunate Son" sung in the same session?
JOHN FOGERTY: "I think I sang 'Down on the Corner' first. *I did all the background parts and then the lead.* So by the time I got to 'Fortunate Son', my voice was a little suspect. I can hear it. It's not quite as powerful - it's a little flat all the way through." (in Rolling Stone)
If you listen to the live versions of 'Proud Mary' on the Johnny Cash show & Ed Sulivan show & live version of 'Down On The Corner' on the latter, the chorus sound identical to the album versions. This song is identical in backing vocals too and it is live, you can tell - it's just performed extremely well.
Tom Fogerty was a keen singer himself, he just never performed the lead vocals for CCR. It is logical that he and the bassist Stu Cook provided backing vocals for numerous tracks.
My ears tell me something different than yours do. But beyond that, there is independent evidence on several fronts (from someone present at the sessions) and from Fogerty himself, that he performed ALL vocals up to at least CCR's fifth album. I have read this from other sources beyond those quoted.
Wow. The intelligence, the forethought, the sheer effort it must have taken for you to compose this masterpiece of a response...my hat is off to you. You must be so proud!
I remember when they did this on tv. I thought it was great then and I still do. The neighbors told my folks that whenever they leave the house the music got loud. I said, "I have no idea why that is". They knew : )>
He has the right "sound" for this type of song. He really belts it out.
