there's a funny comic on Cracked about this ("If Classic Fables Actually Told the Truth"), retelling the version the I'VE heard, which is the ant and the grasshopper, instead of two mice. And in the version I know, the ant (the industrious one) lets the grasshopper (the lazy one) die when winter comes-- which must be the version the Cracked comic writers knew, too, when they wrote their adaptation.
