her first two albums were great. and she was in top shape vocally. believe me, you wouldn't have found a bigger fan than me. however, her 3rd album was the beginning of the end..... 2 chord songs and so forth. this is because once she attained some success and then production control she revealed how damn musically elementary she was and to this day is. the first two albums she was working with and under some really talented people, hence their value. now's she's just a shallow vain cow.

To at least back to 1964 with the Beatles & the original British Invasion groups & the rise of Motown being considered hip & popular -- because really except for a few other trends since that year of '64 there hasn't been a whole lot of change in the sound of pop/rock music

She can still sing like this but her voice is a lot older and she doesn't utilize the higher range of her soprano (the "whistle notes") as much. It's just protecting her voice...singers have to be careful in their later years that they aren't damaging their vocal chords. I think that's why she stays in some of her lower range these days.
