  • good ol days. I wish I was a kid again... when the great ones made me love collecting Hockey cards for a reason

  • @superjeff299 lol what are you smoking? He wasn't on pace for 3400 goals, he'd have to play like 4,000 games maybe more on his pace if he kept producing like he was (older you get, worse you get) so no, he wasn't lol...

  • @77HeIix i think he was referrin to scorin every shift...since that was the pace he set after this goal LMAO

  • Do you really think you're going to change someones mind on who the greatest is? I dont need to argue with some idiot kid whos daddy told him "So & So" was the best.

For me there is nobody better than Mario & I dont need someone to agree with me to make what I saw that man do live on the ice anymore real or satisfying. The things I witnessed Mario Lemieux do where some of the most magical moments I ever experienced.

Enjoy the memories you shouldn't need others approval for those to feel good.

  • @pgbruiser honestly i think lemieux, gretzky, and messier are all tied as greatest goal scorers of all time

  • pete peters sucked anyways

  • @LucaToni101 r u kiddin me? Didn't Peters have a really long unbeatable record for consecutive games with no losses almost erasing the old record? He was good and so was Lemieux!

  • HOLY shit is this from the 1800s or something

  • First career goal on his first shot on his first shift in his first career NHL game....Mario wouldn't score his 2nd career goal for another 10 games.

  • mario scored on his first shift and first game....it toke eberle over 20 mins to score his goal...it only toke mario 10 secs.

  • @nibbs2005 so what?

  • Mario Lemieux's defense was underestimated. His poke checks could frustrate and surprise opponents like Bourque.

As an aside, American hockey announcers suck.

  • sick celly

  • eberle's was better

  • @ErikHutt

Shut the hell up eberle's was better LOL??? How many chances did he get before he scored? I know how many Lemieux needed 1. Eberle needs a few games before he scored. Lemieux just said...i want to touch the puck once and ill score. That is why your comment is stupid and lemieuxs goal shits over Eberle's

  • @2WIREG eberle's goal was nicer but lemieux's was overall better

  • @2WIREG

'Lemieux just said...i want to touch the puck once and ill score', and then he said 'I don't want to score for the next seven games' and that's what he did.

  • didn't he score in his last game, last shift, and last shift too?

  • first shot first goal first game a new legand!!

  • Gretzky and Lemieux are 2 greatest legend, but if i had to draft these both players the same year my first choice is Mario Lemieux.

  • Stole the puck from Ray Bourque, first shot, first shift, first goal. Yeah, that's a good start to a career.

  • sidDKid87- One fact says Gretzky WAS WAY BETTER than everyone else. He has more assists than anyone else has points. Add his goals in and he beats everyone else by a longshot. SIXTY TWO SCORING RECORDS! ENOUGH SAID.

  • @DDon670 All you have to do is look at how many games/seasons Lemieux missed due to health. The guy made Warren Young a 40 goal scorer and Rob Brown a 100 point man. And Gretzky played more seasons, including his prime, through the 80s compared to Mario playing his prime through the clutch and grab 90s and into the 2000s when he made his comeback. Had Mario been healthy though, his numbers are even better than what they are now and theyre already comparable to Gretzky's.

  • He was better than Gretzky. Gretzky was healthy and had better teams, and Mario still had a higher points per game average and goals per game average after his first retirement.

  • @razorslice17 Im not gonna argue that. Tough to say who's better though really. But ya Mario, if he was healthy and had more around him in his earlier years, jeez, who knows.

  • You think if that announcer knew exactly what Lemieuxs career would turn out like he'd have sounded a little more excited?

  • Lemieux owned Bourque...

  • Haha and that's where it all started. Lemieux is one of the best, if not the best.

  • a true classic moment

  • I think Lemieux has the highest career points per game average. If that is the case, there's nothing more to say

  • Gretzky as a 1.92 ppg average, Lemieux is close second at 1.88... but he was much more physically implicated in the games... so both point of view are valid I think

  • Though Lemieux as a higher average for Goals per game, Gretzky having WAY more assists... as for their Shoot%.... roughly the same, like 1% more for Lemieux I believe...

  • Comment removed

  • he was an oustanding player, i have his NHL rookie card from Topps enjoyed seeing him play

  • thats fucking sick to score on your first game first shitft , first shot and to score on his last shot and on his last game and last shift well on his first retirement anyway

  • First of many.

  • I think I was at this game. Was it March of 1985?

  • Oct. 11, 1984 on USA Network. Al Albert on the call. Remember it like it was yesterday.

  • It wasn't going to be the last time #66 embarrassed Bourque

  • Lemiuex could've been better than Gretzky if he was healthy :(

  • I think he was better then Gretzky hands down

  • @ncbeast18 He WAS better than Gretzky

  • @ncbeast18 Yeah, Didn't he have cancer?

  • @ncbeast18 hahahahahahaha not even close

  • @ncbeast18 lemeiux was better than gretzky from a physical skill standpoint, but from a mental standpoint, gretzky was and most likely always will be the best.

  • @ncbeast18

    this is so true......

Personanly I don't really like Gretzky.just my opinion I think Lemiuex is much better....

  • Bullshit. So if Bossy stayed healthy he would have had more goals than both of them?

  • @ncbeast18 Lemieux was better rounded. Like comparing Ovy to Crosby. Ovy is just a goal scoring machine, give him the puck and he can do amazing things. Crosby can do the same, but he makes an awful lot of plays happen with other players so he spreads his points out a lot. I feel Lemieux was better. If you're going off of statistics then sure, everyone sees Gretzky as the 'better' player. Lemieux didn't play near as many games as Gretzky?

  • @ncbeast18 Lemieux

  • @ncbeast18 100% agreed. Lemieux played maybe a total of 10 seasons worth of games and was still very close to Gretsky whom played 20 seasons. Yet people try to tell me Wayne was better because of his records....psh.

  • @ncbeast18 Lemiuex was better than Gretzky, Even Gretzky says so. He said in an interview that Lemiuex could do everything he could do and was 6'6. The only player better skilled than Lemiuex ever was Bobby Orr.

  • @wolfpoc316 Lemieux also stated that gretzky was the best

  • First of all, get a life... "Nubcake" would mean you play those online games for most of your life. It WAS his first goal.. and he was the first to score in the league that season... " -.- " as you'd say.

  • haha i agree with wuteverittakes06

  • do yourself a favor...dont respond just walk away

  • right.. good point. hey gunzreddrum add me to your ignore list! lol

  • me too please i like to think that there arent people as stupid as you in the world...lol just kidding but honestly know your facts before you speak even on a youtube comment page

  • seriously, the announcer even said "on his first shot". go back and listen

  • first game, first shot, first shift a truely born legend

  • @outamou not to mention becomeing the leading scorer with his first fregen shot

  • wow... again...

  • wow, hockey sure is a lot faster now...

  • lol

    you're so gay

he owned and you know it

  • hahahaa true

  • # 66 vs # 77

    two greats of the game

cant decide who i like better!

  • definitely bourque

  • First shift, first shot, first goal! Cool!

  • who's the bruins that came bumpin lemieux alittle?!!! number 33 ..john blum .. kay

  • its the first game of that season and he meant the most goals that year i guess...

  • no wonder ray was so choked for so long. great hockey player. Canada is hockey land

  • Geoffyoyo its because it was the first game of the season lol and that was the first goal scored out of anyone in the season, lemieux what a player!

  • Simply the best!

  • If anyone was going to break Gretzky's records it would have been Lemieux. He was amazing to watch play. This is coming from a Ranger fan.

  • Maybe it was the first game of the season?

  • how is it his first nhl goal when at the end of the video the guy says he's now the leading scorer in the nhl? :\

  • first game you douche. first person to get a point is obviously going to be in the scoring lead for that season. god your a dipshit

  • lol...that response was funny...but yeah, it's not hard to figure out that it's the first game of the season.

  • you make no sense. why does getting the first point mean that you'll lead the league in scoring?....wtf?

  • It was the first game/goal/point of the year dum dum XD

  • oh wow I totally misread your response. yes, I am dumb, I admit it

  • yeah...thanks for that person who OBVIOUSLY has a social life...

  • first game of the season and he meant that year of leading the nhl in scoring

  • great player and one of my favorites

  • Whoa...no wonder he's so good
