All 3D programs require some 3D graphics capability, a 3D Graphics Card is required for the software to perform well. If you want to build extremely large scale models you must have a high performance Graphics Card

Doing things like this has been a hobby of mine for a very long time. To bad it is so hard to make a living in this field. lol that is why i only use free software like Googles Sketchup lolll

Google Sketch Up is a great tool, about the only improvement we could think of was to include the use of phototextures, this allows you to create more photo real images rather than the sketchy or technical drawing look that Google is famous for. Also FYI Google Sketch Up is not free, they have a free version and a commercial version which is $500. We also have a free version and a commercial version.

No sorry this is about Room and House Design only, there are many programs that allow you to do organic modelling. Studio 3D Max and Maya are the most popular, be aware that they are very powerful tools designed for professional use and the price tag and learning curves reflect that.
