This review was really really helpful. Almost like i was standing right next to the car. I know everything I need to know about this car now and Im on my way to go for a test drive. Thanks a bunch (:
@saabkyle04 I'm looking at a fully loaded one exactly like this or a fully loaded 2012 Nissan Versa Sedan. Which one is better? Which one should I buy?
Hyundai has come a long way over the past 20 years. They are reliable, decently built, stylish, comfortable, practical, reasonable, and respectable. But I still would not own one, only because I would have to say, "I drive a Hyundai."
This is a really underrated car. There are people who wouldn't take this car seriously simply because it carries the Accent nameplate. If you slapped a Honda, Toyota, or even (I can't believe I'm typing this) Ford badge on this car, they'll be everywhere within a day.
not bad, not bad. this review gave me a lot more respect for this car. i'm still hoping a can get the veloster, but if not, then this car will be good too. thanks
Great car for the money. My dad drives an 03' that was 'totaled' and sat in a field for 2 years untouched. In 06' we changed the oil, fired it up, and put new brakes on it. Some fresh paint and a new fender later he has driven it EVERY DAY to work for the past 5 years with NO issues. Strong little motors, great chassis for a sub-compact.
Nice lil car, but extremely overpriced. The MSRP is a joke. All Hyundais are selling for $2000 above their MSRP, so this car will cost about $20k out the door.
@protochris I'm not sure where you live that the Accent is in such high demand, but in my area, you can get a 2011 Accent GLS for $11K, which is $3K under the MSRP.
best looking sub-compact out there, looked at one yesterday, other choice was the yaris 4 door sedan and the other was a new corolla, ive had a corolla since 97, and not once has it broke down on me, but we'll see:)
Hey Kyle, I enjoyed the review of the accent. However, it appears that you made a wrong description, as this is a car, not a van haha. Just putting it out and keep up the good work!
I like how Hyundai works. They strip away some features that you see on every car, such as alloy wheels. Yet they throw in iPod support. Kinda strange. I personally would rather have alloys.
@nauaj13 Yes I know. The whole thing is just to save money, however I personally would prefer to have wheels that don't fall apart if you hit a rather large pothole than be able to listen to my iPod over the radio.
@Jakeman2164 because they get better quality ratings then toyota and honda and other japanese brands and the price is alot more reasonable and you get more features that come standard with hyundai and hyundai hasent had any recalls like toyota hope this answers your question and yes i drive a 2007 accent what a great car came with a 5 year warranty in 2009 when i bought it
@adrianplaut would you recommend a hyundai accent for a first car? I mean the car has a rather bad rep for being cheap and a small economy car. I'd just like to hear someones opinion about the accent who actually owns one.
@takerisen18 yes i would highly recommend it like i said i drive a 2007 accent 4 door no problems yet and there is nothing cheap about it the plastics are really tough inside the car
so if u are looking for a nice reliable car with a nippy engine go get one and you will not be let down
@adrianplaut I can't send you a private message but wanted to mention that I also own a 2007 Accent SE. I bought it new and now have over 120,000 miles on the clock. The only repairs have been a $50 EGR control valve and a $16 ignition switch after the 100,000 mark. I did the work myself. The car is a workhorse, I run the living shit out of it and it never lets me down. Sure, it could stand to have a little less hard plastic inside, but it's a VERY durable car, not doubt about it.
I like this guy's videos but he has a very bad habit of upspeaking in that when he talks the last words of a phrase or sentence raise in pitch by a lot. Its kind of annoying because he does it in every video.
this vehicle looks smaller in person but has good size considering it's a compact sedan but i still don't know which to get either the new elantra or this i don't feel for the sonata that much because where i'm from everyone is driving it i have to make up my mind soon can someone tell me which would be a better buy price does not matter
@MyJP1991 Go for the Elantra. It's more spacious(it's a midsize car by EPA standards) and its fuel economy estimates are nearly identical to the Accent. The interior quality is unbelievable for a car in it's price range(It's almost as good as a Lexus ). You can get a'lot for your money. Make sure you go to a good dealer though. Some will try to get you in over your head for price because it is a really nice car!!!! Check out the Forte too it's nice with a little bit of sportyness. Hope I helped.
WOW! The mileage is 30 city 40 hwy! My Cobalt gets 23 city 33 hwy, plus it cost more with pretty much the same features as the accent. I'm the next customer
hyundai accent 2012 tres belle voiture la seul chose qui lui manque pour etre encore plus belle c'est les macs et sur la valise et lui manque un elron la couleur rouge c'est la plus belle couleur qu'on peux metre sur une voiture comme ca.
I just got my permit the others day and i'm already looking at cars for fun and my cousin has a accent 2001 I think and i love his. I've fallen in love with this car. Real nice. Improved stereo and more roomy with lot better engine. Nice job Hyundai
would you say this car is the same size as a 2002 mitsubishi lancer? also in terms of equipment does gls come with ac and auto trans window standard? my lancer is very weak right now, it has issues. looking for an affordable car, not a rich guy.
I'll take this Accent over a Fiesta or Aveo any day. Thought, I admit the Ford's interior is a bit more attractive, the exterior is cleaner and more attractive than the latter. This car is way better equipped than the Ford or Aveo. Has a 1.6 direct injected engine, 6 SPEED auto or manual, disc breaks all around, 10 year warranty and price is under 15k. What more could you ask for an economy car? I mean, really, compact cars in the early 2000's didn't have half the equipment this car has.
@InfamousPR Correction. Though instead of Thought. And brakes instead of breaks. And I actually meant the exterior of this Hyundai is more attractive than either the Aveo or Fiesta. But I certainly think the Rio does look better than the three.
Now's a great time to be working at a Hyundai dealership. It's sooo much easier to sell and meet monthly projections and goals when the product you're trying to sell isn't complete crap. Kudos to Hyundai for making salespeople's lives that much easier! :)
Nice review as always. Just wanted to reply to some of the comments. It has 4 wheel disk brakes. This is a more base model the door handles are black instead of body color and 16 inch allows are an option too. Car looks better in person than it photographs.
how long does it take for a full production of one of your videos? I must say, looks like a ton of work, and it definitely shows. Keep up the good work.
I simply hate the looks compared to the previous models! The sloping roof line takes away headroom especially for people in the back seat. The previous model had a much happier look. Why did they do away with their 2 door model; the most affordable accent?
Damn, Hyundai build a another winner with the all new 2012 Hyundai Elantra. The new transmission is a six speed automatic and the GDI engine has a timing chain and no more timing belts like the previous engine generation. This will definitely be on the top of my list when my 2003 Hyundai Elantra GT dies on me once and for all someday.
@S2500Dog Timing belt and water pump changes are so annoying. I replaced them on my friend's 02 Accord and it would be easier to just throw in a new engine. I like the idea Hyundai's new engines don't come with timing belts.
@7477238 It's not really that hard, it's just annoying to get your hand in tight engines to replace the belt... (i replaced a timing belt in a 03 mitsubishi eclipse with the belt on the side and that was a pain in the ass lol
@7477238 I know what you mean. I have to go through the same setup on my 2003 Elantra but the difference is that the water pump is external and not driven by the timing belt. The water pump is located outside of the timing belt compartment and runs on its own belt shared with the alternator. Luckily, I have the SULEV (California) Beta II engine which requires timing belts replacement at 105,000 miles instead of 60,000 miles on the regular 2.0L.
@S2500Dog Oh wow a timing chain and a six speed ... like that's something special in 2011. Don't get me wrong, but I personally just don't like Hyundais ... the only thing I got for them is that they're pretty cheap to buy and usually look pretty good. The Accent is an exception though, I think it's fucking ugly.
lol darn i had the 2010 accent as a rental car. No power windows, no power locks, no key less entry, no A/C(which was torture cause we were in Florida.
@crystynelu maybe.. but remember that they are that size for a reason...i guess the engineers take on account factors like wheel size and the effect it has on the performance of the car or something like that i dunno.. every car has a special wheel size for a reason
Great car! Does it come with AC and power windows/locks standard? I'm still amazed by it lol. Hey Kyle, could you do a review on the 2012 Kia Rio (possibly the hatchback)?
This model of the accent comes to the Egyptian market with such nice features including: 16" alloy wheels, ABS+EBD+6 Airbags, fog lights, auto-dimming rear view mirror with built-in screen for the rear view camera, parking sensors, multi-function steering wheel, bluetooth, keyless entry with start/stop button, all with the standard features Kyle showed throughout the video (some models comes with sunroof too)
Once was a time, when I couldn't even look at an Accent, because it was so painful to look at it. Well, those times are over. Considering that the GLS is the lower trim level, it's still surprisingly pleasant, both its exterior and the interior. One still couldn't mistake it with a luxury vehicle costing double or triple its price, but that wouldn't be fair anyway.
I know a lot of people will probably criticize me for this comment and not agree, but IMHO, as much as I agree Hyundai has improvec A LOT over their previous cars, I still dont trust them fully. For that, I'd have to wait a few years until these cars become "old" and we start to see how truly reliable these new Hyundais/Kias are. That's the real time when you can say "Hyundai is finally as reliable as Honda" (for example)
this is the only cheap car i know that doesn't feel cheap

@7477238 Glad my car don't have timing belt, timing chains are the Best. They last for years.
jjchargerboy16 8 months ago
@7477238 It's not really that hard, it's just annoying to get your hand in tight engines to replace the belt... (i replaced a timing belt in a 03 mitsubishi eclipse with the belt on the side and that was a pain in the ass lol
datpimpinboy 8 months ago

@LordKevin92 lol...that is so true...but they should have bigger rims though...:(
crystynelu 8 months ago
@crystynelu maybe.. but remember that they are that size for a reason...i guess the engineers take on account factors like wheel size and the effect it has on the performance of the car or something like that i dunno.. every car has a special wheel size for a reason

This model of the accent comes to the Egyptian market with such nice features including: 16" alloy wheels, ABS+EBD+6 Airbags, fog lights, auto-dimming rear view mirror with built-in screen for the rear view camera, parking sensors, multi-function steering wheel, bluetooth, keyless entry with start/stop button, all with the standard features Kyle showed throughout the video (some models comes with sunroof too)
mohammedosman88 8 months ago
