  • I don't why it moves me so when she's imitating Bob...

  • she's so beautiful and graceful.. she's not got the best set of teeth, but still can smile so bright and light up everything. My love and respects.

  • beautiful, rich,

  • 最高です!

  • 最高です!

  • Magnificent.

  • Awesome!!! Thank you

  • bob wrote so many songs ... including scarbrough fair for simion and g uncle

  • @TheTigercave he didn't write scarbrough fair that's a English Folk song.

  • 0:57 Dylan, come out of her body!!!

  • As usual Joan sings beautifully. A lady of conviction, and true skill as a singer.

  • so funny when she starts to sing like bob dylan! she still sings beautifully after all these years and looks great for her age.

  • Ha, ha. I loved it when she sings like Bob. She did the same thing live. I guess there is some bond between them that will never die, no matter what.

  • i cant believe her voice is still so awesome after all these years

this is pure beauty. i dont know if dylan wrote it with baez in mind but it definitely seems like it was made for her to sing.

  • Isn't she marvellous and using bobs voice too..

    She still loves him..

  • I've been fallen in love with her voice for some fourty years! So deeply impressed me this video.

    Thanks, thanks Joan!

  • Superb!!!!!

  • becoming a young adult in the 60's, Joan touched me in so many ways. This song always held special meaning to me and all my loves who I once knew, that with time somehow faded away quietly from my life.

  • C'est génial cette vidéo est super =) (et la chanteuse plus encore )

  • She's so beautiful.

  • What a voice and what a gem of a piece of film. I'm going to have to rent this on DVD.

  • makes me cry, her voice and Dylan's words together... so beautiful

  • You can watch Dylan composing this song on "Don't Look Back".

  • just great the part where she imitates dylan, so many things she says by doing that..

  • yeah, i couldnt imagine dylan singing this song till she does the imitation, pretty cool

  • How many of us are in love with Joan Baez.. I once had a drink with her former husband--very nice guy.

  • me me me meeeee !!! :) she was a babe back then, and soooo great now huh... what a clip!!! I think it's longer than the one they cut for no direction home. She really is great isn't she? I had no idea until recently. I'll bet he was a nice guy.. :) i love stories like that.

    thanks for a great comment.

  • i first saw Joan at the Hollywood Bowl in 1969, at least I think it was. Just a kid at the time, but oh what an impact, and she still does. A mesmerizing lady.

  • If there is a godess of music, her name must be Joan Baez! Joan, you are the best who is, who was and who ever will be.....

  • one of te best Dylan songs he never performed. But Joan sure does the song good!

  • thanks for this amazing performance; it was very simple and cordial.

  • Incredible!!!!! Fabulous. Fantastic. Amazing!!!!

Was this one or two years ago? Anyone know for sure? :)

  • it's funny when she imitates dylan

  • I find something magical in Miss Joan. She is so extraordinary, while she stays so simple, so casual, so normal....

  • theres something in her eyes. she knows something that we don't. :D

  • ya, there is a story we are never really going to know.......probably better that way, baez and dylan inspired the world that a 20th century relationship could be kept untouched by the media and therefore pure

  • She really is lovely.

  • Wow first time I was stoned I listened to this. Fucking good times!

  • Gorgeous, as usual....

  • hello everybody, the song is really wonderful: it's peaceful and the text by bob dylan is really awesome. This rendering is very characteristic and singular. The setting is meaningful and Joan's great. Very good, I'm gonna buy the whole documentary, I hope in Italian. Sara? do you mean the same Sara of the homonym (magnificent) song by Bob Dylan?

  • I have a feeling that this song is actually about Sara..

  • amazing song

  • God who says Beauty and Age do not go hand in hand...

  • It gives me goosebumps when she's imitating Dylan - great!

  • @alusru3

I dont think she is imitating Dylan, no one imitates Bob, i dont think he is a very good singer, he is however a brilliant song writer.

  • @axelmct not imitating him, lol. she was mocking him, it was just in fun

  • @alusru3 For me it sounds more like SpongeBob HAHHAHAHAHA

  • Life and Bobby taught her that it´s "just a four letter word" which no one ever would have been able to believe way back then.

  • FABULOUS

  • Do you really need to go any farther than this song for proof of the man's genius? And then for Joan to make it even BETTER? Mind blowing.

  • I never saw or heard about this documentary by Scorsese - I can't believe I missed it. I have been a fan since I was a teen in the sixties. I wonder if it's avaiable somewhere. Thanks for posting this beautiful song.

  • greetings from cologne--there is this dvd" no direction home "--you get it for example on ebay--its symply awfull--tell me about your impressions when you have seen it--thanks

  • Thank you, I'll check it out! I'm surprised at your reaction to it; I've heard only positive feedback about it, but, not having seen it for myself, I cannot really comment. I am curious, however, as to why you didn't like it... was it the production quality? The subject matter? The direction? Thanks.

  • hallo peaceable

you are right and i have chosen the wrong words--i meant that the video is fantastic and the documentary too--sorry--have a good time

  • Voice meets words

  • Joan: You and Bob together. Tour. NOW.

  • unfortunately not going to happen, they tried to a while back but dylan apparently was being a bit of a lech and trying to rekindle old flames so she quit the tour

  • Is the part where Joan impersonates Dylan's vocals in the documentary? Or is this and extended cut, becasue I remember this scene just not some parts of it. Good vid

  • at about 1:00 and 2:44 she imitates him for a line or two.

  • The voice of integrity is gorgeous

  • Amazing close-up camera work! Thanks so much for posting this! Joan graces a song as no one else can.

  • amazing close-up camera work? well, it oughta be, it`s Scorsese`s documentary!watch the whole movie if you like dylan or baez, great insight into their relationship, after which Joan decides not to answer any more questions on that matter (finally).

  • She still sounds good as ever, and still a good looking woman.

  • Marvellous Joan Baez!

  • but did bob ever sang this songs? (where can i find?which album?) or wrote for her to perform?

  • In this documentary Joan Baez says that Bob Dylan wrote it, she liked it a lot and recorded it. When Bob Dylan heard it on the radio he said: "That's a nice song". he didn't remember he wrote it!

  • yes i saw it:)

so..he has never sang this song??

  • No, don't think so!

  • Dylan performed Love Is Just a Four Letter Word in "Don't Look Back."

  • Ha ha love Joan´s parody of Bob...xDD

  • SWEET !!!

  • This is an old song written by Dylan, probably when he and Joanie were on the skids. It was NOT written for Scorcese's movie!

  • Oh I'm sorry, ofcourse you can read it that way! I meant it was written by Bob Dylan and performed by Joan Baez for the movie!! Sorry!

  • Thanks for posting this video. I really enjoyed it. And I don't see any reason for you to apologize.... you said exactly what needed to be said. Dylan wrote the song and Joan performed it for the documentary. Nice job. Thanks again....

    Cheers,

    Al

  • I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I changed the description after reading lawnggcoats comment, at least the description fits now :)

  • sorry for the sound, you have to turn it up a lot!
