and the movie is the Titanic as it appears in the table because it has 4 floors? if the Titanic had three, and because the white cap and the cap on the Titanic was black
I find it interesting that this movie would have the most realistic depiction of the damage until the discovery of the wreck, in that it was damage from popped rivets rather than a 300 foot gash that sunk the ship.
OK. I thought it looked awfully good for 1929, and I do remember it looking much like the 1953 scene. I had thought there was something wrong with the copy I bought of this one when it blacked out. It is a bit of a laugh, though, with those Laurel and Hardy rockets. Also didn't like it in flapper era setting, but still interesting early effort.
Why do all current copies of this film go black at the sinking scene? I saw it years ago intact and the final plunge was extremely well done for 1929, looked like the 1953 scene almost.
@DCnightcrawler you probably saw that in one of the documentaries that added an alternate shot of the final sinking from 'Titanic' 1953 cut into the ending. This film never showed the ship sink, but rather elected to leave that to the imagination of the audience.
@LostWhiteStarLiners So that's where that final plunge shot was from in the 1986 documentary. The original 1929 scene never survived to make it apparently. Still, if someone can edit the last scene of Atlantic with the alternative 1953 scene, I'll be satisfied. I watched the 1986 documentary on mute and the cut last scene of the 1929 movie. It made a good match.
@germanname1990 I've thought about doing that myself, just never got around to doing it. Might be a good project to work on with these cold winter nights coming on strong!
@LostWhiteStarLiners If the cold is one reason, it shouldn't be the only. You got to remember that the April 14th and 15th of next year will be a century since Titanic's sinking. If you're able to put the scene in by then, that'd be great. If not, please don't worry. A lot of stuff is planned for the 100th anniversary anyway. ^_^
This is a legendary movie. I had this on videotape for my birthday because I was and still enjoy the story of the Titanic. But yea I had this on video but lost it thank you for putting this on. Hopefully this will not be taken off.

The lead character, the old guy in the wheelchair, is superb! Would love to see more of him.

Is the actor in the prologue David McCullum from A Night to Remember? I think he was one of the wireless operators.

'Bethany' NMG2T at 1h26m? Wouldn't have thought so in a British film(cf. A Night to Remember, where they play 'Horbury').
