One of the best songs on the album because it's unique enough to make the album worth having. If I wanted to hear another version of it, I'd listen to that (and I do.)
Jon shows he understands the Great American Song with a sublime performance, a great arrangement, maybe something to do with George Martin or his son, pity the guitar player is still on Mel Bay Book 1 .
Randommagnum, same here. I was a rocker many years ago when names like Beatles, Rolling Stones, Herman's Hermits, The Animals, it goes on and on, were popular. What an era we lived through. I am glad that I was one who was there when it all began. Since that time, I have become a serious lover of any and all music, even Opera. Music, like variety, is the spice of life.
Probably one should mention that this is taken from a tribute top Gershwin album by jazz harmonica player Larry Adler, along with a broad range of first class pop/rock musicians like Jon Bon Jovi (this song), Peter Gabriel, Elton John, Sting, Oleta Adams, Kate Bush, Lisa Stansfield, Cher, Sinead O'Connor, Carly Simon and others. Highly recommended!
I don't understand why this song offends so many. Wait -- yes I do. I was a loyal rocker myself once, and condemned all other music as unpalatable, but then I grew up.
Its not the song Jon doesn`t have the range to pull it off . Jon is a great guy & wrote some great pop rock songs but this just ain`t his thing Stick to pop rock !

Now hold on a minute... You are telling me that Jon Bon Jovi, an icon of '80s falsetto hard rock, doesn't have the range to pull off Gershwin?
If you don't like this, you don't like it. Nothing wrong with that, but don't say what isn't true.

this is from the Gershwin tribute album - the name escapes me but i think its purple...
