Hi again, the first name is Thorsteinn Einarsson, the place the guy is coming from is Borg, and the place the boys have gone is Akureyri, the next bit i cant find a name or a place that they are talking about all the magistrate says is that they cannot go on because of craveses im not sure if thats the bit you meant or not.
In the next clip the first name is Sverrir but i cannot work out his second name as cant hear it very well hope this helps
@briony29briony I finally fnished all the episodes, I have a few names for the last three.
It's not much, but I had to make two uploads because it won't unite the first bit with the rest of them. Also they are mostly not in sync, sorry. But the audio is clear.
the names are Atli Ottoson, Helgi Bergson, and Baldur and the place name is Skipalon its near Akureyri in the north of Iceland also i missed out the H in Modhruvellir sorry, also cant put in the proper icelandic letters in some of these names as cant get my icelandic keyboard to work
Hi! can I ask some of you help with this movie? I saw it when I was a child in italian, registered that in a vhs and my mother watched it at least once a year until the vhs broke. I bought a dvd but I couldn't find one in Italian or with subtitles, just one with three languages: English, German, Icelandic. I'm trying to make subtitles in Italian for my mum, but there are some difficult points.
One is for example a name they keep saying something like "Maccaronì" that I think it's referred to the house or place they live in. Could you tell me the right spelling for it?
Nope, maybe it's another name. In another point is longer and complicated (when they first speak with Harald and they say..we call it Mar....) the first time instead is while he's brushing his pony at the beginning.
@briony29briony thanks!!!! if the horse is named Grani, then probabily in the English laungage he's saying "my Grani" and that's why it sounds a bit like maccaroni :)
@briony29briony there is a video I updated with the names I didn't get so far (I just finished the first three episodes, other 3 to go). it's 24 seconds and has the bits with Modruvellir and Grani too. I ca'nt post the whole link, don't know why, so I can just put the final part of it: youtube.com/watch?v=FYVHkAsVwtk
Jón Svensson is one of my favourite writers. He's writing so nice, fresh and exciting adventure storries. Also sometimes very dangerous but he always trust in God and this helps him through all his life.
I was in Iceland and I discovered Nonni in the bookshop. I was in the nice town of Akureyri but I didn't visit his house because it was before I have known him. Iceland is a wonderful country and I'll come back.
Good news for all of you who have been searching for the English DVD. There was a recent release in Iceland, the order details are as follows: vörunúmer BEV 1508 Bergvik ehf. 2008. Price: around 5.000 ISK. It is called "Nonni og Manni" and comes in Icelandic, English, Deutsch (on the same dvd). It is a box set of 3 dvd with 2 episodes each; before playing one has to select the desired language.
Today I was informed by an Icelandic friend of mine that at long last there is this movie available on DVD in ICELANDIC!
There is an article on 8 december 2008 in vísir: "Hark, fríar máltídir og lítill peningur" by Jóhann G. Jóhannson who played "Julli" in that movie and who was very much involved in bringing about the Icelandic DVD. I hope that at the same time they also made an English version on DVD.
It was a german, norwegian and Icelandic production. They filmed the show in English and dubbed it in Icelandic and german. I only saw the Icelandic version and of course the two actors are Icelanders and dubbed their own voices.
The Nonni exhibition shown last year in Reykjavík, Akureyri and Cologne on the occasion of Jón Svensson's 150th anniversary of his birth, will be opened on 18 September at Goethe Institut, Hamburg, and can be seen until 30 October 2008.
Later it will go to Berlin.
The Japanese version will be shown from 14-18 October in Tokyo, and will then travel through Japan, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Sevensson's departure from Japan where he gave lectures in 1937-1938.
In May 2008, the 3rd release was published in Germany. Now the 6 episodes can be seen on a single DVD, unfortunately only in German. If you come across an English version please let me know.
It´s a german tv production done together in cooperation with Norway and Iceland. In the 80s the german television produced every year a very expensive TV series for christmas. It was shown between the 25.12 and 30.12.88
I was fourteen and I was in love with Nonni and I had his poster next to my bed :-)
hallo. diesen nonni gab es wirklich. er hat zahlreiche bucher geeschrieben. wie und was er erlebt hat ist fazinierend. so manches hat hat mir geholfen
Well, I saw the hole series in Icelandic when I was growing up. I would also LOVE to have it on DVD so if anyone comes across it....i mean seriously...let me know.

this is a great story we watched with our kids in English. We have some of it on VHS but we want it all on DVD. The only DVD available is from Germany. Does this have English language as an option, thatmay have been the original language of the tv series.
was wondering if you have managed to find an English version. We have a very old video from the NZ TV series shown here in the 1980's. Would love to get a newer version of it.
