The start of this opening theme is unbelievable. Nothing a full orchestra in Cardiff does can ever compare to this. Its like some sort of galactical scream.
He was alright, but there was definately something unsettling about him. Maybe it was the mismatch between his clothes and his personality, but I really don't know.
I always thought Colin Baker got a bad rap. He got an unfair reputation as "the Doctor nobody liked", but in a way he was ahead of his time; Christopher Eccleston (and to a lesser degree) Matt Smith have given the character a darker edge, something they should have let Colin Baker do.
Actually this has the sound effect for Peter Davison's Doctor Who logo explosion as opposed to Colin Baker's. Sounds like they just slowed down Davison's instead of releasing Colin's. How awful!
When I was little and I saw the intro of Colin Baker for the first time, I thought 'Hmm, Gene Wilder from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory would fit in perfectly here..'
The Colin baker series had brilliant versions of the theme, with the early 80s came a lot of amazing synth technology and they used it to great effect here!
And he's a gentleman too. I've met him twice and i can't think of any bad thing to say. Colin, you're a scholar, a gentleman and you were an awesome Doctor
He is a really cool guy. I was extremely fortunate enough to meet with him at the New York Comic Con. He was one hell of a nice guy, and I wanted his autograph...but I was short of cash and I put on somewhat of a brave face. I did say "Well it's an honor meeting you Mr. Baker." and he said in a very pleasant english accent "Well thank you, and it was nice meeting you too sir."
I made a concerted effort not to be a fanboy and to show him respect;
Thats exactly how I would approach him as well. Honestly, he just seems so much more about his fans than any other doctor, including the new ones, which makes me admire him even more, but thats only an assumption on my part. I havent had the privilege of meeting him yet.
can someone please post the complete version of these titles with the oomph effect on the logo when it appears! as i've always liked the sound effect!!
No you aren't thinking a different intro. This is a clean opening, just missing one thing, the "Whoomp" as you said when the logo appears. I have it on my video list.
I like the sixth doctor. He could come off as abrasive sometimes, but he was great. I wish he would have stayed around longer. I got used to the outfit.
You've kinda listed this as a closing sequence it its description; I dunno if that means you've listed the actuall closing sequence as a title sequence; I can't remember...
Sorry should have said just before the words flash up,It's also a shame that the BBC Music CD's stopped at vol.4 Meglos/Full Circle, because we would hopefully be upto or near Colin Baker's time and the incidental music for his stories, the best for me I think would be Revelation of the Daleks, Roger Limb's great incidental music.
The actual theme music for this 1984 version had one alteration and that was an added sound effect or 'sting' added when the words Doctor Who flashed up,it's a sheme you couldn't find the actual music for this one.
This gotta to be the best intro of all doctor who intros. It's my favourite intro then is patrick troughtons intro. What do guys think. Do you agree with me.
As with all my clean title sequences, I have redubbed the commercially released opening and closing themes onto the videos in place of the televised themes to ensure the highest possible quality. Sometimes the officially released versions lack sound effects that were present on the show.
LOL. I was only three years old when this came out.

Colin definatly had the best face intro of all the starfield titles
4th: Just faded in
5th: Very odd venusian blind transition...
6th: Explodes on in a wave of various colours before smiling...

for Series 23 in 1986, Howell's theme was discarded in favour of Glynn's theme arrangement.

Don't forget Sylvester McCoy. His Doctor fell into being a dark character as well.

@TheEndlessWarlock Indeed. Shame the BBC killed the show before he had a chance to realize his full potential in the role.

comparing the beginnings of Peter Davison's and Colin Baker's intros, Colin's intro is much more bass-influenced.
