It is caused by knowing a poem by heart for many years. At various times in the past I have recalled it, but it has been changed by that process.
My version of a poem is often different from the original. Sometimes I like my unconsciously-edited version better - not this time,. though.

read it the next day and laughed a little and decided to publish it, thinking it wasn't half bad.
