@LTRP300 I'll respond. No need to capitalise it. I use a Sonic 3 and Knuckles disassembly and the SonED2 level editing tool. I also use a Hex Editor for some minor things.
@LTRP300 The disassembly isn't a tool. It's a disassembled version of Sonic 3 and Knuckles. This is required so that SonED2 can read the level files. You can't just edit Sonic 3 and Knuckles directly as half of the data is compressed inside the rom. If you look up disassemblies on Sonic Retro, you should get an idea of what to do next.
@SonikkuHedgehog Yeah, I know that you can't just edit the files from a clean rom. But what do you mean by a disassembled version of Sonic 3 and knuckles? (Like can you DOWNLOAD a disassemble version?)
@LTRP300 Sort of, yes. You have to download the disassembly and a rom, then split the rom into the individual files. The tools to do this are included with the disassembly (Like the build and split tools). Sonic 3 and Knuckles is sort of different though; you need to split both a Sonic 3 rom and a Sonic & Knuckles rom.
@SonikkuHedgehog I don't see why you shouldn't be able to just split a Sonic 3 & Knuckles ROM. Sonic Team originally intended for Sonic 3 to be a whole game it if wasn't for release time issues.
I thought this as well but it turns out that not only does the initial method better as it removes duplicate data, it also manages both separately so you can in theory build a Sonic and Knuckles hack or a Sonic 3 hack separately.
No. As I have previously said and will continue to say; It's not finished, I will not be letting anyone download until it is finished and when that time comes, I will upload a new video with a download link. Until then, you will just have to be patient and wait like everyone else.
I have a question. I know you say to everyone that you're not going to have a release ready until you're completely done. But what would happen if you lost all your work to a computer crash or something like that? I mean that would probably be disappointing for everyone. What do you think?
I make several backups on a near regular basis; On a flash drive after a days work, on an online server once a week and on CD as part of a monthly CD backup. I'm fairly sure this system is tight, but if worst comes to worst and I lose it all, then it's just bad luck. I also understand people wanting to play it early, but I don't feel comfortable releasing an unfinished project. I've done so before (Untitled S2 hack) and I lost almost all inspiration after that to continue.
Which software do you use to edit levels layout?

@SonikkuHedgehog B-but, what if you wanted to make an Sonic 3 & Knuckles hack for the extra level count all in one game? <:\
MastaGambit 2 months ago
You combine the 2. It's really not that difficult. You can even do it in dos by merging the 2 files.
SonikkuHedgehog 2 months ago
@SonikkuHedgehog o_O
I didn't know you could combine the 2 ROMs into a single one. You'll have to teach me how to do that. o.o

Boss edit = it doesn't retract it's 'arms' back so much before striking. This makes it look like he fakes out with the other arm. Classy. :)
