This was recorded by the Standells in 1964, written & sung by Larry Tamblyn. Gary (Leeds) Walker is most likely the drummer on it (before Dick joined the group and Gary went on to form the Walker Brothers). It was released under special licence on MGM Records as a single, so you probably won't find this as a part of any Standells collection. It is the same song which the Standells lip synced to in the Bing Crosby TV show in 1965.
This is great! They were from Los Angeles, I mean Boss Angeles, as The Real Don Steele would say. Lame, huh? Let that guy listen to his Pet Shop Boys. No big deal but I have this 45 also.
Keyboardist Larry Tamblyn wrote and sang this song, the flip side of the "Zebra in the Kitchen, title song of the movie of the same name on MGM Records. Larry also sang lead on several post Dirty Water songs, including "Mr. Nobody"
Anybody take a guess on the chords for this? I got A & F#m, then I get lost on that 3rd chord...

Sounds as a combination of the byrds (singing) and the doors (music).

Are you certain this is the Standells?

Yes, because I had one clip of The Standells in one TV-show playing this song.

Hey, great song! I've never heard it before.
It reminds me of some of the early hits of The Beatles and The Byrds.
