Don't worry. I still have visuals. This is just to squeeze as much sound quality out of my Mic as possible. Also I have my eye on a pod casting kit that includes a very nice condenser mic. So I want to be ready for the kit by the time I rise the funds to get it.
fans on my old laptop were pretty lowd, well before my laptop decided to die on me, anyway, they still interfered with my mic, when i got on mic with some friends they used to say it sounded like an air raid siren. Only way i could reduce the noise was to place the mic as far away from the laptop as possible.
I cut the foam to exact size for a tight fit so friction alone holds the foam in place. No glues That frees me to reuse the foam in a more permanent solution of this project made of wood should this anechoic chamber work out to my liking.
does this mean no more visual recording?

I hate those cooling fans. Not as much as wind though, but that's a different story.
Might seem to be a dumb question, but how did you secure the foam? I presume it has to be pretty flat against the wall.
