It's a 316 compact, much lighter rear. I have 320 Touring and it only wants to drift on slippery surface. On sportier models steering centers without driver's help. Regular E36 has longer steering gear.

@seva168 How would the weightshift affect braking? ABS was developed to keep the wheels from coming to a complete stop, thus making the car move in the direction the front wheels are facing; in this case this is the guardrail. Not the most desirable location IMO.

NOT having ABS would make the car slide in the general direction it is already moving, which parellel to the road. Slowing the car down this way prevents any 'forward' movement.

This is why drifters always disable their ABS.
