Overtaking someone and then braking is the height of bad driving. As you clearly didn't positively cut back-in it's obvious that you knew that you'd cut her up as well.

If i was the car driver i would'v been checking to see if anybody was emerging from between the cars.Such as a child.I would not have been checking my mirrors.If a motorbike wants to pass he is welcome to do that.But don't expect car drivers to notice you.Just be careful.
to be honest she should be checking her mirrors, When I am on road like that I know Motorbikes use alot or any road if im driving a car, I give them plenty room to past, I always check my mirrors for them filtering and as a biker myself, I am more aware of the maneuvers bikers do.. but if she was checking her surrounds she wouldn't have gotten a fright

from the video I would say that the overtake boxed her in not giving her enough room as there was a caravan parked in-between the cars and she had 2 choices pull right into the bike or hit the caravan ,both were at fault her for not putting enough room between her and parked vehicles and rider for not giving her enough room to pull over when overtaking.Bike and car rider/driver for 30 years and seen many such foopahs in the end sh1te happens live and learn.
I dont think that was a silly over take at all, the parked cars didnt make the woman pull out anymore. The only thing i'd say is give a little bit more room.

Campers vans parked on the left, wider than normal parked cars, your overtake probably prevented her from moving further out of the road and thus, she may well have had to take evasive action to avoid hitting the parked campers.

Talking on the phone is NOT illegal the act of using your hands to operate the device is that is why hands free sets and in car blue tooth devices etc can be installed in any car even from new. You shouldn't have overtaken there, but she over reacted. On the other hand, she was signalling right at the roundabout, while turning left, and should have been reprimanded for that...
It is hard to judge perspective properly from a camera image, but judging by the line you took between white line & bus stop, to me you looked too close, as you left her nowhere to go if she had to swerve around something (child running out)
IMHO You should have used the full width of the road, and given yourself & her more of a safety margin.

In Australia if it's a broken line it's legal. She for all you know travelling at that speed could be parking or turning with out using the signal. If you were well under the speed limit there is no problem with that. Parked cars on the side of the road are of no consequence.
You've been riding for as long as I have and all you did was make progress when you saw it was suitable, just as any experienced biker would have done. There is nothing wrong with that and you saw it was safe to do so, just as I did by watching this video. You obviously know your machine, the capabilities of it and your riding ability so knew before hand, you would be able to complete the manoeuvre safely, but she didn't like the fact you overtook her.
Did you notice she exited the roundabout with the wrong indicator flashing? She should have cancelled and then flashed left. She herself was causing confusion and increased danger. Later, she was overtaking a string of parked cars when you passed her. A careful driver will always fear a pedestrian stepping out or a car door opening. By boxing her in_ however slightly_ you probably made her feel unable to take as much room as she felt was really desirable. I can fully understand her concern.
She actually has no legs to stand on, you overtook her which is perfectly legal if justified. And she's a woman driving a golf so there's justification. It was also a perfectly safe place to overtake because there was no on coming traffic. She probably only complained because she was waiting to get her kids back from social services whilst the tax payer paid for her insurance. I really hate people that moan.
as someone who is a motorcycle rider, i think the maneuver was a bit silly as there are parked cars to the left of the car you were overtaking. slight over reaction from the car driver, but none the less, a silly overtake

I think she was wrong. She should've checked her mirrors before she merged. It's not the bikers fault that she has bad depth perception and felt she had to move that far into the other lane or passing lane.
That was a fairly close overtake on the crest of a hill with oncoming traffic and while passing parked cars in a residential area, I'd say overtaking there was a little optimistic and left no room for error on anyone's part. Over confidence. Epitomised by this video rant.

Well, you're overtaking on the brow of a hill and you've given yourself (and her) no outs. IMHO you could have either given her more room, or waited for a clearer stretch so you could assure yourself of more room. I'm sure you're an excellent rider or you wouldn't still be around, but not all car drivers find it easy to drive close on their nearside, especially inexperienced ones. Who knows what could have happened around those parked cars? (kids, doors opening)

I think you may have actually caused her to brake as you went past because of a van/motorhome slightly sticking out at 0:59...but its hard to tell from the vid.

lol, well I think maybe you did deserve a bit of an earful for that move. in a narrowing lane, you overtook without signalling, squeezing her in, and most likely causing her to brake unnecessarily, so just take it on the chin and try to ride with a bit more consideration next time.

@robertwillmer I've had to re-read your response several times, as I wasn't sure if you really were saying the things you were saying. I've been riding a fair few years now, and regularly ride with an IAM instructor, so I'm not clueless. The rider was careless, not realising that the road was narrowing for the car, and to overtake when the car was passing parked vehicles. If a parked car door had suddenly opened, there could've been trouble, had the car swerved to avoid a collision.
@robertwillmer I also hope you're joking about not signalling when overtaking too. I'm pretty sure you've been ill advised on that one, especially when there's other vehicles in close proximity. There's a time and a place for signalling, and this certainly was a time, to inform the car in front, and oncoming. I can only assume you're not a UK rider? If you are, I hope we don't meet on the roads, for my safety!
She was already squeezed in her lane because of the parked cars, you passed her too close, without signalling. You startled her, she brakes quick and swerves to AVOID you.. and barely misses hitting a parked car. I do not think you had any intent to cause harm, honestly i do not think you gave her even a thought except that you wanted to pass her, but it was easy to see in hindsight that you did almost cause an accident.

Sorry MADSTU, That was not a safe overtake, ask yourself this, Would you have pulled that move if you were being followed by a police car? You were too close to her car, if she had to swerve for a car door opening or a child emerging from between the cars she would have wiped you out. You also failed to carry out a life saver before you pulled out. The only reason you never moved a safe distance over the road was due to the lack of clear vision you had ahead. Sorry but its true

Looks a bit dicey for over-taking. Several potential hazards I can see:
- an incline
- tall stationary vehicles obstructing part of the road
- vehicles pulling out without warning
- car doors suddenly opening
- pedestrians darting across
- mud on the road
- large vehicles coming the other way or over-taking
The car in front also appears to be taking the same option, thus increasing the danger if they brake sharply.
Roads in this country are so small. Stay safe mate..cool gloves.

It is hard to judge perspective properly from a camera image, but judging by the line you took between white line & bus stop, to me you looked too close, as you left her nowhere to go if she had to swerve around something (child running out)
IMHO You should have used the full width of the road, and given yourself & her more of a safety margin.
Having said that. I don't think you caused her "to nearly crash"

In Australia if it's a broken line it's legal. She for all you know travelling at that speed could be parking or turning with out using the signal. If you were well under the speed limit there is no problem with that. Parked cars on the side of the road are of no consequence.

You've been riding for as long as I have and all you did was make progress when you saw it was suitable, just as any experienced biker would have done. There is nothing wrong with that and you saw it was safe to do so, just as I did by watching this video. You obviously know your machine, the capabilities of it and your riding ability so knew before hand, you would be able to complete the manoeuvre safely, but she didn't like the fact you overtook her.

Did you notice she exited the roundabout with the wrong indicator flashing? She should have cancelled and then flashed left. She herself was causing confusion and increased danger. Later, she was overtaking a string of parked cars when you passed her. A careful driver will always fear a pedestrian stepping out or a car door opening. By boxing her in_ however slightly_ you probably made her feel unable to take as much room as she felt was really desirable. I can fully understand her concern.

She actually has no legs to stand on, you overtook her which is perfectly legal if justified. And she's a woman driving a golf so there's justification. It was also a perfectly safe place to overtake because there was no on coming traffic. She probably only complained because she was waiting to get her kids back from social services whilst the tax payer paid for her insurance. I really hate people that moan.

That was a fairly close overtake on the crest of a hill with oncoming traffic and while passing parked cars in a residential area, I'd say overtaking there was a little optimistic and left no room for error on anyone's part. Over confidence. Epitomised by this video rant.

Well, you're overtaking on the brow of a hill and you've given yourself (and her) no outs. IMHO you could have either given her more room, or waited for a clearer stretch so you could assure yourself of more room. I'm sure you're an excellent rider or you wouldn't still be around, but not all car drivers find it easy to drive close on their nearside, especially inexperienced ones. Who knows what could have happened around those parked cars? (kids, doors opening)

@robertwillmer I've had to re-read your response several times, as I wasn't sure if you really were saying the things you were saying. I've been riding a fair few years now, and regularly ride with an IAM instructor, so I'm not clueless. The rider was careless, not realising that the road was narrowing for the car, and to overtake when the car was passing parked vehicles. If a parked car door had suddenly opened, there could've been trouble, had the car swerved to avoid a collision.

She was already squeezed in her lane because of the parked cars, you passed her too close, without signalling. You startled her, she brakes quick and swerves to AVOID you.. and barely misses hitting a parked car. I do not think you had any intent to cause harm, honestly i do not think you gave her even a thought except that you wanted to pass her, but it was easy to see in hindsight that you did almost cause an accident.

Sorry MADSTU, That was not a safe overtake, ask yourself this, Would you have pulled that move if you were being followed by a police car? You were too close to her car, if she had to swerve for a car door opening or a child emerging from between the cars she would have wiped you out.
