Mystery House... very old school but important as one of the pioneer games to feature computer graphics as well as the first game by On-Line Systems that would start the Sierra revolution!
To their great surprise, Mystery House was an enormous success, quickly becoming a best-seller at a first-release price of USD$24.95. Eventually, it sold more than 10,000 copies, which was a record-breaking phenomenon for the time.
Mystery House was an instant hit. It was the first computer adventure game to have graphics, although they were crude, monochrome, static line drawings. It sold about 15,000 copies and earned $167,000.
ierra Entertainment Inc.[1] (formerly Sierra On-Line) was an American video-game developer and publisher founded in 1979 as On-Line Systems by Ken and Roberta Williams. Based in Fresno, California, the company was last owned by Activision, a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard.
well the graphics are atrocious but hey- it was 1980-something. Now if only we could have Sierra Online (or another, non-bankrupted) software company redesign this bad boy....hell yes
I really loved this game - I played it over and over even after I solved it - the only hard part was getting lost in the forest, but I remember my dad found a cheat - your trouble in this gameplay was that you forgot to fill the pitcher with water to douse the fire with - thanks for posting this!
haven't played this game since i was REALY young. I love this video becase the only part of the game i can still remember is tripping over that damned rug and starting a fire....hopefully i can find this game again...thnx for the memories.

@AvacadoDesperado Sierra's later game, Colonel's Bequest could be considered a spiritual successor to this game.

I found this sometime in the 90s in a back room of a school along with an Apple 2.
Never could beat it. A pity what happened to the company.

Ahh.. Sierra Online. The once brilliant gaming company, now destroyed by a mismanaged hotel.
