This is probably the dumbest thing I've seen someone do. You removed the studs from your wall and instead of replacing them, or even building a box with wood that's equally strong.. you put a cheap pressboard piece of shit in it's place.
@slickrick909 We do appriciate your constructive feedback on our construction work. You may have noticed that we adressed the question of the support structure in a comment earlier. So you do not need to search we can confirm that a new support structure was put in place, however, this was not filmed.
Be assured the house will not colapse and you can sleep at nighy again but thanks for pointing this out.
pretty cool...but using an ipad would have been alot easier...I mean really who needs full os x in their kitchen, you can do just about anything with an ipad...surf the web, do emails (Typing on an Ipad would be MUCH easier), stream all of your media to the ipad from the main computer...the list goes on, its not like you're going to be doing video editing with FCP or anything...I'm just saying...:)
Nice Tech and DIY skills combined! Although sorry to sound picky, but wouldn't you want the monitor up another 6-12 inches as it looks a tad low there if you standing face on to it? Maybe it's just the angle of the video?
can u do the same thing but with the new mac mini, ill be buying a mac mini soon, and it seems i like ur videos, so ill be using ur video as a guide to my mac mini set up, thnxx, plz reply
@DonKhamairi should be fine with the 2010 mac mini. only thing is that you cannot make effort from the built in hdmi port in the new mini - as far as we know there is no touch screen with osx drivers that is capable of hdmi. but conventional display connection as in the video with standard apple connector should work.
@PublicidadArgentina The wall structure was repalced with a frame. This bit we have not put in the video........The wall is is also screwed into the frame.....
It's running Snow Leopard.......why do you think Leopard is better?
Very nice! Who makes the Touch Screen? More importantly, who makes the Drivers? Where can i get the Touch Screen Drivers? I'd like to do something similar but need some GOOD Drivers! THANKS!!!
It's really cool how you did all that yourself and all. But I don't know why anyone would want to have to stand around while surfing the internet imho. Seems like it would be extremely more advantageous to get an ipad. Ease of use, portability. Just my opinion though.
@VISUALIZERSffm shoot, that's too bad! not that i would buy an ipad, lol. Cool either way though. Mini's are great little machines, very versatile. Maybe you could install some voice activated software so you could be james bond, lol.
Inspiring! Still don't know why would you have a mac on the kitchen. This is not bad criticism, it's just that, while people buy a mac mini to fill the wall of a kitchen and actually use it, people like me (and everyone around me) buys it, without touchscreen, and takes it as a powerful tool for work, otherwise it's a wast of time and money, and think of it as the most expensive investiment for healthy finantial way of living. It's not a waste, but mocks people who can't get this way of living.
@poinkinha it's just part of a bigger picture: the touch screen mac mini is a client within a media streaming system with several lcd's, 4 macs and the ability to stream all kind of media content around a house. stay tuned if interested in setup and cables.
Wow nice job, Seems to work great! I can only dream of having a touchscreen for my cpu! What editing software did you use? I'm guessing iMovie or final cut express 4? Again Nice job! Cheers

Great video man. Two points;
1) Your handwriting is nearly illegible, and I am a teacher!
2) You could do a similar thing with an ipad and a VNC client.
3) Great idea!

Add a hidden compartment below the touch screen that flips down with wireless mouse and keyboard. The flip down door would act as the tray.
Beef your current layout by adding a remote drop down door that hides the whole system.

@VISUALIZERSffm really cool idea, what software did you use to incorporate the touch screen? so that it can work flawless.
mart182003 1 year ago
easier, get an ipad 2 with cams (when it comes out!) and velcro it to the wall!
jeremoviesinc 1 year ago
@jeremoviesinc true but the ipad will not be as powerful as this.

It would be smarter to do that with a tv. I mean. It's kinda annoying if you must stand there tapping on the wall.
