any track times yet?? I have 4.10s, Vortech V-3 non-intercooled, JBA shorty headers, dual 3 inch cut outs and delete plates. Thinking of topping off this years mods with some Hot Rod cams.. wondering what times I'll be running.. and what you are running in your set up and if these cams are worth it...
@bobbydabutcha if u already have a blower u should get a set of blower cams and not the ford racing cams. maybe go with comp cams vsr or spr blower grind and u will see some serious gains.
aghh i just jizzed a little. what does this do to the power of the car? does it change the power band and make it at higher or lower RPM's and such? i wanna do this some day.
If you do this mod, do it for the sound & behavior. With no other mods, the power/torque gains are very modest....maybe 5-10 hp/ft-lb. My car was already optimized before the cams, and after tuning with the cams, gains were minimal. If you're looking for power, then this probably isn't the best bang for the buck.
haha sounds wicked man, i always say half the fun is in the sound, i love that old school lopping idle its the best by far, i just get annoyed at the lengths manufacturers go through these days to keep sound out of the cabin, i looove hearing that beast roar under my foot haha stop muffling it! I have MagnaFlow on my Camaro and its great, not obnoxious but definatly has the thud when you ask for it
Yeah...sometimes I forget how loud my car is because I'm so god damn insulated from the outside sound. Had my friend rev it for me the other day I was VERY surprised lol
Yes, they are Corsa. They are very deep, but not thundering. I chose the Corsa for several reasons: loud when you went them to be, absolutely NO drone, and tips look fantastic.
The HP & TQ increased slightly, but nothing significant. I'm still looking into this. Mileage did drop a few MPGs, but worth it in my opinion (I don't drive the car much).
do you know if most ford dealerships can retune the car with the new cam installed? I'm planning on getting this cam, but I live in a craptastic small town that doesn't have a performance shop. I know our dealer installs aftermarket parts, but wasn't sure on tuning.
Unlikely that a dealer can and/or will tune your car. They would need to have a chassis dyno. You can probably get a tune from Ford Racing for these cams, but would require purchase of their calibrating device and also cold air kit I believe. Best bet is to find a performance shop and get a custom calibration for your car.
Thanks for the reply....I'd love to hear more once you have a feel for the way the car performs and the approximate milage drop. I imaging this is not a California legal setup.....?
next time rev it!!! jeez

sounds awesome...has anything else been done to the engine besides the cams
ccmad11 1 year ago
@ccmad11 Just some intake (CAI) and exhaust work. Nothing else in terms of performance. I didn't want very loud, so I kept the Corsa system on.

sounds awesome... I was thinking about putting these on my car but is anything else modified on your engine

were those cams an even swap out like the Comp cams NSR ?
GMurphSC06GT 1 year ago
Cams were a direct swap. Only other thing I replaced was the cam phaser bolts. I'd recommend a timing chain wedge tool also.

Dude you need to get some Flowmaster American Thunders under there. Those mufflers would'nt wake up the Sun.

I had Flos on my '97 Cobra....too loud and awful drone! Corsa looks great, absolutely no drone, and loud when you want them to be.

im fucking pissed i cant get cams now because it voids my 3 year warranty

Are those Corsa's? How do they sound with the cams, is the sound deep and low?

What did the swap do for numbers with the FRPP Cams? And, How did the milage change? I love that sound!

Some may honor your warranty but it really depends on the dealer. And if you find a dealer that will, GET IT IN WRITING! :)

How bad did it hurt the milgage?

Whoops...make that "Mileage"....

I haven't driven the car much due to inclement weather. So far, appears to be a slight drop in mpg during city driving.
boocher22 3 years ago
just the cams did u replace the springs or anything elce?
08gtstang 3 years ago
Cam swap only. FRPP cams are compatible with production valvetrain.
