This pilot tv movie was so completely awful it was like somebody's idea of an incredibly bad joke. Not only did it crap all over the original Hitchcock classic but also completely disregarded parts 2 & 3, which was truly shameful. No wonder Anthony Perkins boycotted this trash.

@FreddyKurganNimmo No, i'm not kidding. I hate this piece of rubbish just as much as i hate the god awful 1998 remake, which i consider to be the absolute WORST remake of all time.
@TheAltair4 For me, Bates Motel is leaps and bounds better than Van Sant's steaming pile of shit(which, in all honesty, isn't saying much). And, not only do I also 100% agree with you in considering Van Sant's remake to be the worst remake of all-time, but I rank it right up there as the 2nd worst movie I've EVER had the misfortune of wasting 2 hours of my life to watch that I'll never get back. The only movie I consider worse is Blues Brothers 2000, and even then, not by much.
@FreddyKurganNimmo Yeah, Blues Brothers 2000 was total crap. I thought that Bates Motel was at least better than Creepshow 3, which many people consider to be the single worst horror film of all time. Day of the Dead 2 wasn't much better. lol
Now people say this looks crap or is crap. I have a copy of this and I could see what they were trying to do. The series would have been about a series of supernatural ghost stories that occur at the Bates Motel. Keep in mind they did it with 'Friday The 13th : The Series' which wasn't about Jason, but two cousins who inherit an antique shop filled with haunted items. In spite of the fact there was no Jason in it, that series ran for four years. If this series been given a chance, then who knows

How can The Psycho remake be so bad when it's imitating what Hitchcock did? Unnecessary maybe.
