shades of the Beatles, Pink Floyd, the Who, The Troggs, the Yardbirds, Zeppelin... just an awesome band, great harmonies, great songwriting, this is what music is all about.
Awesome memories but the pogos make me fell rather sick these days . . . I must have had enough 'substances' in the system to counter the effect back in the day!
WOW--I have just watched my first 7 Supergrass tunes and I can't believe that I have never heard of them! ( I'm attributing it to my age and my yankness).
They are fabulous-- I'm excited----how wonderful to hear new music that turns you on.
do you know something, I was flicking through the music channels tother day and dropped on mtv supergrass hits 1994-2010 and this song came on, I couldnt beleive how I dared forget about this truely GREAT GREAT mid 90`s indie/rock track. A terrificly well written composed song,150 % class....and we have to put up with this kid rock crap nowadays bring back the 90`s I say.
I love it when gaz sings the verse all by himself, then on the chorus the band joins because I already know that on the next verse the rhythm section is gonna be fuckin' awesome, like the song moving... The second verse is just... God
London would be even better than it is already if the chaps along the South Bank at Waterloo performed tricks on their pogo-sticks instead of skateboards. It's very difficult to be hard while you're bouncing up and down.
up until about 20 minutes ago, i thought these guys only had the 1 song from clueless. but after hearing this, i think i might have to check out other music from them.
Oh. My. God. They've just released their second album after a Best Of... Which came out after FOUR albums! That bloody "Alright"... I know it opened doors for them but that was 13 years ago! Is that really all people will remember the 'Grass for?!
me sorry, i'm just now getting into all the alternative british rock and electronica. i know i missed out some great music over the years, but thanks to youtube i can catch up ;)
Sorry - I didn't mean to shout at you! I was very chopsy yesterday for reasons I can no longer remember. What were you in to in order to miss out on all the great music?! Crikey! I do come across as an arse in my previous comment... Apologies to you all!
lol, apologies accepted. to answer how i missed out on this music - i went through an 70s, 80s & early 90s rock thing in high school. i'm finally listening to music past the 90s. i'm a little late on on things.
Interesting comment but I think they've got more in their cannon. Seen them 3 times since 2002 and they've never once played Alright, but the crowd have been well up for it. The Road To Rouen tour was immense. But ...Money is their greatest album and in my top 5 ever.
you got it. it's one of the bands i always forget about, even though i have 3 albums. one of the highlights of britpop. i may put on an oasis album for a listen, but if i put on supergrass, i end up listening to nothing but them for a week....we're lucky to have them
It's called irony. Perhaps you were expecting slow motion shots of a sad singer looking longingly out of a window through the rain? Or maybe the lead singer lying on his bed indulging in flashbacks of a love lost? Chill out, man. These guys have got a sense of humour.
Supergrass is one of the few bands I trust to consistently put out music I want to listen to. This is a fantastic song. But honestly, I don't get the video. Everybody loves pogo sticks, I'm sure, but somehow it doesn't match with what is otherwise an sincere, even melancholy song.
There was a trend in British advrtising at the time to use slow-motion and black and white to make things more "real" and emotional... So this is kind of a piss take. A very subtle one at that.
Supergrass is one of the few bands I trust to consistently put out music I want to listen to. This is a fantastic song. But honestly, I don't get the video. Everybody loves pogo sticks, I'm sure, but somehow it doesn't match with what is otherwise an sincere, even melancholy song.
I think most of their videos are made by two old school friends "Nick and Dom". They've gone on to make videos for loads of other bands too i think. Supergrass defo have one of the coolest collection of videos of any band. The songs ain't half bad either!
their music has gotten even better hard as that is to believe. road to rouen, one of the best albums ive ever heard. cant wait for diamond hoo ha men and the rockumentry. looks brilliant!
such a talented group. love their music. thought it was gonna be a gloomy depressing video, all morose and deep, then they start hopping around on pogo sticks. abstract. or just plain funny? who cares, its brilliant. are they working on new material just now, anybody know of any imminent releases?
24th march. there you go. i answered my own question. would that be classed as talking to myself? put me in a cell and cover me in jam. i might fill a tartan thermos flask with tea and wait outside hmv overnight in a sleeping bag. any female fans welcome to join me. send details to....magpie, thames television, teddington lock blah blah blah
i remember seing these guys play at glastonbury and the rain was coming down, but as if by magic the clouds parted and a huge rainbow opened up in the middle of this tune.
truly one of my favourite of all live shows. ahh, good memories. gives me goose bumps just hearing it now. :)
One of the greatest 500 songs in my lifetime! Supergrass could possibly be the most underrated Britrock group of our time. Too bad they never got their break, but hey, I love their stuff!
brilliant song, brilliant video, probably their best. I mean who'd think of using pogo sticks - like it's always bikes, roller blades etc. lol unless pogos were 'in style' then - i was around 3 or 4 when this came out :P loool - what was with the zoom in of Mick's face halfway through by the way? :P
:-) think we should all join together with our pogo sticks and bounce through the world spreading love and joy.Call me sick but I'm thinking we could also combat childhood obesity at the same time -we could have megaphones and yell "put down your chips and bounce your way to joy and fitness!" plus they would be very entertaining.
one of those hidden gams that you never hear on the radio. instead you hear chili pepper remixes all fuckin day!!! love the pink floyd style solo aswell
ok. So who else is now thinking that they want a pogo stick for Christmas so they can hop right in the middle of a huge whopping puddle? tell me its not just me. am 34 by way. have 4 kids. Should I still want a pogo stick?
