Thanks man! Superb video, I would however like to watch a person with longer limbs. I'm approximately 186cm tall, and with quite long arms. Shoulder problems have occurred due to bad technique. watching your vids have helped alot, but I feel that my bench could be improved further if you showed your techniques with a taller, broader, person.
@antzzz111 When you miss in lifting weights it's when you are not able to complete the exercise. In that stance he was using if he were to come back toward his face instead of straight up and down, he didn't have the optimum leverage to push it up. When your benching 600+ lbs you need every bit of force you can get behind it. So basically if he fucked up the bar was coming back down straight at his face. That's why you need good spotters.
Only lately have I changed focus from bodybuilding to more power lifting and this made me interested in giving the knees out form a try. I don't think I've been getting much leg drive from the feet under form.
awesome series, thanks so much. I would really like to see another one for a lifter with longer arms and a squat and deadlift series. Dave Tate is the man
What about if the elbows isn't inline with the hands i.e if you use a pretty wide grip with tucked in elbows. Should I use a narrower grip then? (Holding with my lillfinger on the rings)
I understood from the rulebooks of USAPL, IPF, and NASA-PL, that the feet HAD TO be flat on the floor. Yet I noticed that Dave even said, "your heels won't touch the floor but you have to try to drive them there." What's up with that?
What would be your advice for benching for building pecs. You asked the Josh at start what is he benching for, and he said strength. This is pretty obvious choice, right, but what would be your advice on benching for pecs, best/safest (shoulder wise) way to bench for pec development?
the more pec you use, the less safer it is for the shoulders. if you wanna build up your pecs then use more reps and volume and shorten your rest periods. also do incline and decline
Great serie! I ca see now how I was confused between bodybuilding bench press and power -lifting bench press.
Again, deadlift serie would be really helpfull...

is there any reason why he lifts his head off the bench when he does the bench press

Really would like a longer arms vs. shorter arms video, grip variations, etc.

Can we have a vid about variations on the Bench Press? See how to properly incline, decline and dumbell bench press?

what does he mean when he said, his shoulders got messed up because when he "missed" that stance was bad?

Why does he not lockout the reps at 1:50? Looks like hes trying to make his bar path look shorter than it actually is.

+1 for squat and deadlift series and also for a lifter with longer limbs.

@malidm
Best chests I've seen (guys like Doug Young, the guy who wrote the Iron Claw program) typically benched heavy heavy HEAVY from what I know.

@Draykid
Yeah sure it works for some people, I personally benched 440 but my chests just lag behind...

Hail to you from Russia and all your work!
I’m 6′ 4 , so can you make a video how technique changes with longer arms and legs
and with the rules of my federation feet must be flat on the floor
Can you please analyse the bench in episode 5 intro and Ryan Kennelly raw bench press
Thank you for your work!
