Great Danes have the potential to be good with all sorts of other animals especially if introduced at an early age as they tend to have good hearts.

Of course there are always exceptions

@6stardanes At the age of 6, our Dane had never seen a cat or kitten before. When she saw a 4 weeks old kitten in my friend's house, she took it carefully in her mouth and slobbered over it. The kitten wasn't the least anxious. Lot's of dogs are afraid of my labrador, not one dog is afraid of my Great Dane. They must sense their good nature. (Our labrador is very difficult with other dogs and cats, they must sense that, too!)

Just as a full blown explanation:

Horses of all sizes are measured in hands. 1 hand is 4 inches.

If a horse is an incomplete hand we add .1, .2, or .3 to the end of the measurement.

Horses are anything measuring 14.2 hands (or 58 inches) tall at the wither (the point where their neck connects to their back--usually kinda looks like a point) is considered a horse. Anything that is 14.1 7/8 (People do get this specific when seeking a permanently registered pony card for show purposes) or...

...shorter is considered a pony. Miniature horses are not called horses because of their size but rather because they are that size and still proportioned like a horse. Ponies usually have stubby legs and other proportions that make them look different from a miniature horse.

Miniature Horses are not measured like a typical horse.

In the U.S. Minis are (currently) measured at the base of the last mane hair and not at the wither.

They are also measured in inches instead of hands.

Minis come is two ranges according to the American Miniature Horse Registry (AMHR)

A size which is 34" and under

and B size which is 34" - 38"

whereas the AMHA (American Miniature Horse Association)

only recognizes A size minis.

Yes, in a perfect world it applies.

Yes, in Miniature Horses it is ideal for the porportions to be that of horses

however that isn't always the case.

For an easy example a Dwarf Miniature Horse is still a Miniature Horse...

but of course being a dwarf it wouldn't have the ideal porportions.

@6stardanes Haha. There will always be exceptions to every rule. However, didn't you just give the dwarf a different title? It's called a dwarf mini for a reason. So a miniature horse is different from a dwarf miniature. So in the end there is still a distinction between what defines a miniature horse and something that is different, whether it be a pony, a dwarf mini or a giant warmblood.
