I'm so glad that there are such talented people on youtube!

  • how original!! This is great! I never thought of doing a duet with myself. I love it!!

  • very nice! I love how you have them spaced perfectly on the beat, very difficult when doing so with a double recording duet! Bravo!! (ps:what flute do you play on)

  • ahhh i love bach :D my sister and i do duets all the time. Don't you think it's kind of creepy when your whole entire family plays the flute as in entire family like great grandfather, great grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins. That's kind of scary O.o LOL.

  • wow that was awsome keep it up ^^

  • dude that was such an awesome idea. great work :)

  • Great! i Love it! is that an extended b foot? it has great tone.... does it have the plastic filling in the middle of some of the buttons? mine has the b foot. but it doesnt sound that good, but i guess it took alot of practice! :)

  • that's one badass tone.

  • hi! you have a great sound! excellent work! can you comment my video please? thanks...

  • wow..... that was so good.... i am only a teen and i have been playing flute since i was in 4th grade. In a compititon i got a 27/28 TWICE!...:] and im going again this yr. but that was excellent... the only thing i would rec(and i no... i no...a grown man who takes advice from a young teen?..but,) is that you try and keep your flute UP when you play rather than slanted towards the ground... this is what my private teacher told me. KEEP IT UP!!! YOUR AWESOMEEE!!!!

    Emily

  • That sounded great job! I could tell you were getting really into the music.

  • Excellent. :o

  • Fantastic !!. I discovered Flute 1 Month ago. It's a pity I discovered Flute so old (49 years), but I discovered a new passion. My comliments again, .. and visit my site to leave me a suggest.

    lucioleita

  • thats increible how you did it with yourself.

well done. you played very well.

although a little more expression would have been good.

but still thats really excellent what you're doing :D

  • Is this a duet or a trio? Cause when I look for the sheet music it keeps saying its a trio. And there is like three parts to it. What part is this?

  • Yes, technically, it is a trio sonato for flute, violin, harpsichord, and cello. I am playing only the flute and violin parts on flute - both parts. Thanks!

  • beautiful!

  • Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on some 1920's trading cards of musical instruments, including the flute.

  • wow!really amazing!!

  • Can you tell me where I can find this exact duet that you played? It sounded awesome!!!!

  • hey, i did that once with my computer but my music was easy... they were pretty chorals

  • wow, sounds really nice.

  • A baroque flute would be pretty cool too, and true to the original, but this version sounds quite nice, and was fun to watch.

  • wow! you're very talented at your flute! love the song

  • wow you're really good. I've done this duet thing with a tape recorder but it sucked. i should try using the computer with this sometime! thanks for the idea, and good job.

  • Oh my god. You just became my hero. And my inspiration. Why oh why did I ever neglect my flute practice? *Goes to practise* :)

  • what kind of flute is that? it's pretty.

  • they all look the same.

  • Dude, this is simply beautiful. And you aren't giving yourself enough credit. You are awesome and we all know it!

  • could you possibly tell me where the sheet music would be available to buy for this piece?

  • Yeah me too. I have a concert coming up in a month and would likefor my friend and I to play this. PLEASE !!!

  • i play flute and i would be thankful to be 1/10 as good as you!

  • ie: High fingers... I would take critisism like that with a grain of salt when comming from someone who has never posted a recording of themselves or has never been heard of by anyone in or out of the professional field. The proof it in the pudding on how you play. Keep up the great work and don't let any negativity get you down. We all love you Mark!!

  • That is rather cool ^-^

    ~xx

  • Woah thats kinda cool

  • wow! exciting! you get a great work!

  • great work!

  • Wow, that's amaizing, I like your way at make a duo, jeje :P

I like your personal way of playing flute, I think is great.

  • good! it turned out great!!! lol ur amazing with the flute keep up the gd work

  • Wow, beautiful.

  • wow! teach me to play that good!!!!

  • You sounds really great! You must have been playing for years! I wish I could be that good! And great idea about the duet with yourself, it turned out awesome :)

  • high finger action doesn't make your pads wear faster, in fact in holds back your technique so you don't compress and flip, but then your finger height should adjust accordingly to the speed and the techinique demanded for the music. I think criticism is overrated, if it sounds good, it is good.

  • way cool :D

  • this is incredibly good! I love your dark tone.

  • this was the most amazing thing i have ever thing! definately on my favorites. :)

  • Wow! Enjoyed this duet with yourself very, very much. Excellent playing and breathing. Now, that is an inspiration to me!

    Thank you.

    Donna

  • WOW

  • Answers to common questions I have received via emails: Muramatsu DS Flute, Miyazawa MZ-6 head joint, Canon ZR40 video camera, Sony ECM-MS907 external microphone, Windows Movie Maker, Picture-in-Picture XML plug-in.

  • Viewers may be interested in my Haynes Factory Tour video uploaded recently. Has Rampal and the late Louis Deveau and John Fuggetta as well. Enjoy.

  • I toured the Haynes shop in 2002 and purchased an LJD model. It was a great flute. I sold it and purchased a Muramatsu DS in 2004. I wonder if Haynes quality has changed since they were purchased by Eastman Strings?

  • The quality appears to be the same. Tried some out at a flute fair and they were fine. I would take a Haynes over a Muramatsu any day. Totally different craftsmanship and beauty more so in the Haynes.

  • I certainly would be. May I ask what tags you used as I can't seem to find it? Thanks.

  • Amazing! you did it again. Great talent, look forward to more of your great recordings.

  • gorgeous! I hope you post more. Do you play any scottish music?

  • That was pretty good. Although difficult to do, how about adding some dynamics; otherwise it becomes a long run-on piece of work. Still need to get your fingers lower. High fingers makes eveness difficult and wears your pads out faster.

  • Thanks for the comments. Those are two things I am working on. Years of bad habits are hard to break. Nevertheless, I am working on them esp. on T&G EP4.

  • Welcome. You will probably want to use a mirror when practicing scales and it shouldn't take too long to lower the fingers. Try thinking of almost touching the keys and your fingers will get lower. Pitch is getting more focused but sometimes around B,C,D tend to be sharp. Remember, focus into the flute. Probably need to exaggerate it for a short time cause your ears are hearing it sharp and are tricked into believing they're right.

  • Beautiful as always! Do you play for a living?

  • Thank you. I play only at church as a volunteer and for personal enjoyment.

  • Love the duet! Please post more duets and how about a few video with accomp., like the chamanade! Great playing!

  • you should do more duets, loved it :)

  • Hi Mark, Phenominal playing. You are really an inspiration to me. Questions: What sofware did you use to put the picture in picture? (What is the tapping noise at 2:40...Wife wondering when you are coming out of your "studio"? Really great audio in this video.

  • Thank you. I used an XML plug-in from www.rehanfx.org. The tapping at 2:40 is my cell phone, sorry about that :)

  • fabulous !!
