  • One person is Jeff Tweedy.

  • Thanks for posting.

  • i don't see why they ever needed to start uncle tupelo, or wilco, son volt never should have happened any way...this is how rock and roll should be. the sonics were the best. and this is a great cover.

  • that the fuk is jeff wearing??? hahaha

  • thats some of the finest flailing I've seen anywhere, anytime on the tube.

  • Awesome! Playing the Sonics way back when few people knew of them back then! Cool guitar Jay...and nice dress Jeff haha!! I was a junior in high school when they did this show(wish they had been in my town).....whoa time flies....

  • no the real Primitives.... blaggers

  • Fucking awesome!

  • OMG PANTS!!!! LOLOLOL You kill me...I feel like I know you now...haha. I wish I WAS you! I'm pretty sure I've imagined myself rolling around at jay's feet...maybe not so much covered in blood...but... THANKS for sharing this is GREAT STUFF. So f-ing YOUNG.

  • I'm prettty sure they were younger. My friends and I were 21 and could drink 50 cent beers at the Liederdkranz and eat free taco chips. Wade was an awesome singer. Who would have thought that Wilco shit would come out of this bliss

  • All the beer you could hold at the Leiderkranz(sp?), no cops in Millstadt, and the Primitives. Man those were the days. Thanks for posting, Elderly Pants.

  • hol-y shit

  • they graduated high school in '85. so they were probably all only 18 at the time of this. pretty damn good, actually. the sound has held up.

  • Jeff was 21, and and Jay was 19. I have no idea how old Mike was.

  • so how were jay and jeff in the same grade ?

  • Can't shifty ages be apart of the same construction?

    I stayed back a year...so what?

And did your folk-rock encyclopedia phrase it that Jeff and Jay were in the same grade?

I don't even know, but it makes sense either way.

  • i know they were in the same grade because years ago myself and another obviously-deranged-at-the-time fan went to their high school in belleville, posed as college journalists and stole their senior yearbook.

  • Jay was older than Jeff by a few months, but they were all in the same grade

  • Oh, that's right! Jay was born Dec. 26th, 1966, and Jeff was born August 25th, 1967.

Hahaha. I get wrapped in the celluloid for a time.

  • they graduated in 85 together. I was at this show...

  • YES

  • Jeff channeling Tommy Stinson

  • man this is so old jeff and the guys might have still been in high school! oh and nice dress jeff lol. also is it just me or does the singer look kinda like a young roger daltrey?

  • Jeff was so Nirvana.

  • well that was fairly brilliant.

  • wow, cool. It was a good year.

  • Fantastic! Screw an Uncle Tupelo reunion, get these guys back together.

  • LUUVVV! Bring back the punk-assed '80s.

  • Fucking GREAT. Good times. Thanks for that.

  • The Liederkranz in Millstadt...what a great venue...you'd leave soaking wet from dancing all night after watching these guys!

  • Jeff trying to be like Bob Stinson with the dress on!!

  • is that jeff wearing a dress?

  • Yep
