Not a fan of Fox and I don't know much about this Chris Wallace but I can tell that they are both intelligent and well... good at their job. I mean how many times do they interrupt each other? That kind of discourtesy is pervasive in shows like this. Though I can tell Fox edited this.
I know Jon Stewart is just a comedian, but I shit you not I would vote for him in a second if he ran for a political office. It's a shame more people like Stewart can't get through the political sifting machine to become the kind of leaders we need. The money, corruption and other bullshit keep quality people out of the process. No wonder Republicans can't find a decent candidate to run against Obama. At least the whole mess makes for some funny Daily Show content. Jon your my hero. LOL
Jon Stewart is such a classy guy. Chris Wallace got destroyed in this interview and still Jon is respectful to him, calls him a good man, and shakes his hand.
This. This is why the world is doomed. There are comments here that read "Both have strong opinions," and "two smart people with opposing views" and lastly "both show each other the respect they deserve." WHAT INTERVIEW ARE YOU PEOPLE WATCHING? Chris Wallace is using TACTICS like he's campaigning for a tobacco company, and John Stewart is laying down FACTS.
The reason I like Stewart so much, which is amply demonstrated here, is the incredible maturity he displays.
He consistently expresses himself in the manner a psychologically healthy adult should: make clear where you stand, accept and consider criticism, admit when you're wrong, and don't let hostility get in the way of real discourse.
We could all learn a lot from him, regardless of where our views (political or otherwise) contrast with his.
Chris Wallace is not a good interviewer as Jon Stewart had said. He is horrible. He asks the tough questions but constantly interrupts and demeans the speaker. Stewart tried to counter this with some success. The true master with this guy was Clinton. Watch Bill Clinton own his ass.
I love that FOX NEWS sees Jon Stewart as such a threat to them. He has a comedy news show on a basic cable network. Love that they cant stand to see a well-spoken, intelligent guy be funny and get his point across.
I think Its also worth noting that even without the counterpoint of Fox news television as a whole wouldn't be as liberally biased as radio is conservatively biased.
There's plenty of bias from each end of the political spectrum in the media, but whereas Fox News is a single blatantly right wing company, the left wing bias is spread out among multiple networks, and no single one of them is as biased as FOX.
The biggest point that I think Jon Stewart was trying to make is that Daily Show is Biased against the media bias. Just search Jon Stewart Ron Paul. That says all we need to know.
I think the biggest point that was made was that the Daily Show is biased but it's a comedy platform that doesn't argue that it's a fair and objectionable news source, it argues that it is a comedy show about news. While Fox News is biased but it claims to be fair and objectionable. That is what the problem Jon Stewart has and frankly everyone else has. The key phase is 'tone it down.' You can be biased like New York post, or msnbc but not on such a consist basis.
determine the character of the coverage. If there was going to be a change it would have to come from the viewership itself, not the purveyors of the content. But even if the viewership became more politically savvy Stewart's expectation that there could be a "nicer" political discourse purged of conflict is incredibly naive and facile (and furthermore, he doesn't even live up to his own creed, considering how disrespectful he is of conservatives). Those who worship the ground this featherweight
Jon Stewart's criticism of media outlets is amazingly thoughtless and stupid. Like any company in a free market, media outlets are in the business of trying to turn a profit, and they do that by giving their audience what they want. So in reality (though he's too brick-headed to realize it) Stewart is criticizing the political sensibilities/viewing habits of the portion of the American public that tunes into these media company's programs because it is these sensibilities and viewing habits that
@ws81086n Sorry but if you want news media in this country not to report the news but just to be entertainment for profit; then 100% of the time it will be watered down bullshit like Fox is. I'd rather just watch something actually entertaining than some bullshit but that's me. You really need to rethink where Jon Stewart is coming from.
I love the part where Stewart calls Wallace on trying to delegitimize his attacks on FOX by finding out his voting history and Wallace pulls that "I'm just trying to understand you!" crap. What a fraud Mike's son turned out to be.
@poli4ever1, its not the advisors that got us into this mess, thats like saying that hitler and ghandi read some of the same books (neitche for example) the information and recomendations were from qualified people it was the decision makers and the lack of oversight from congress and the whitehouse, as well as human nature which created the greed that called for oversight that got us into tis whole mess, i agree tho, fantastic interview indeed
As an Aussie and being to the USA a few times in recent years, it's horribly disturbing how POLARISED the US media is, and sickening that it's an Aussie scumbag partly responsible...but Stewart displays a common logic that is quite funny and cuts through the ridiculous absurdity of it all, which i guess is his 'shtick' and what a professional clown like Wallace can't accept. The irony is its all a 'mass debate' the scary thing is that people actually get hurt and the world gets damaged.
Im a swede and I like to watch fox news clips on the youtube cause its such childish journalism it makes me giggle. Its always the same thing they get spanked over and over again but never learn.

What Wallace cant understand is that the reason Stewart has his credibility is because people are turning to him for the facts because FOX WONT REPORT THEM. FOX viewers are SIGNIFICANTLY more ignorant on whats really going on. Fox Viewers would say the economy is still getting worse, when in reality its getting a little better. GTFO FOX, give up already.

@SlyBeGone lol! Close Alliance?,,, You mean like Obama and ACORN? Obama and Bill Ayers?, like Obama and Rev.Wright, like Obama and Larry Sinclair? lol???
Liberal media did not 'attack' King George the Jr's intelligence. It mearly featured the fact he has very little. I have never in my life seen someone as dis-engaged as he was in the performance and duties of the office he was handed.
Jon Stewart was right on about Obama, he has the same economic advisers that promoted the deregulation that got all of us into this mess. My source: the documentary income job, ever see it? good stuff. Both sides made great points, it was a combative debate indeed but I can still see mutual respect between each other, overall a fantastic interview and props to Jon for holding his own in the Fox's own domain that takes balls :)
@polo4ever1 i know that was a great interview, alot of times people people are afraid to give their true opinion on fox. it's good to see when people like jon do.
@polo4ever1 This is the level of discourse America needs. Two smart people with opposing views who can discuss their differences without calling each other names. Most of Fox News consists of ignorance, misrepresentations and outright lies.
Too bad Fox cut out the part where Jon says how Bill Sammon, one of the executives in charge of the news, sent emails with memos telling everyone to start discussing Obama with socialism and Marxism. ANd then many of the shows on Fox started doing that very thing.
That's a study by the Huffington Post! LOL Jon Stewart shows his true colors here. Jon Stewart basically admits that he & the other networks are liberally biased & Stewart actually gets angry because Wallace shows him the bias. Answer by Stewart: Liberal media outlets are "Lazy journalists"--literal translation--liberal media outlets lazily, excuse me, directly ignore the facts & ignore stories that hold barack hussein obama accountable for the failure he is as POTUS.
@BlackRepublican2010 If Fox News wasn't biased, they wouldn't be trying to tell 'the other side of the story'. That goes against their "Fair and Balanced" motto that is inside of their mugs.
@BlackRepublican2010 He's saying that media is sensationalized, and to lazy to cover real stories and all the facts within the stories, and not just on the liberal side, it's both. And the Huffington Post does a "study" on John Stuart admitting something? Could you please post a link to this study or at least clarify what the study is about?
@BlackRepublican2010 I agree! When he said that one sentence he just admitted that he is angry, lazy, biased and a left-wing activist who has no other agenda than to throw the whole of America into a pool of socialism!
@klaasdeboer 2010 was the year I became a Republican & left the democrat party, which owns the worst African American unemployment rate since the great depression.
@BlackRepublican2010 You just don't get it... He was suggesting that most people who work in the field of journalism probably hold liberal beliefs, but there is no unified liberal agenda out there. You can't deny that FOX news is LYING when they say "Fair & Balanced", Chris Wallace admitted himself that he saw FOX as a COUNTERWEIGHT. Therefore, if you all REALLY believe that there is a Liberal bias, then him saying FOX is a COUNTERWEIGHT must mean that FOX is full of shit!?!?!
@zentonil good statement to blckrepub2010... if liberals could collectively agree on one path one ideology... they'd rule the world... they would rip fixed news apart.
"Misinformed"In 2010, Fox viewers actually scored better than its 2 direct cable-news rivals MSNBC, & CNN. Also scoring lower than Fox were local television news, the evening network news shows & the network morning shows. For the 3rd time, particular Fox shows scored well. Hannity ranked 5th ahead of MSNBC’s liberal shows Keith Olbermann & Rachel Maddow & O’Reilly ranked 9th. For the 1st time, Pew included Glenn Beck in its rankings, & finished 12th, slightly ahead of Stewart’s own Daily Show.
@zentonil There is no denying the liberal media has viciously attacked the intelligence of President Bush & treated Obama's Presidency with kiddie gloves & protected him. If that isn't bias, I don't know what is.
Chis Wallace played a clip of Diane Sawyer "misrepresenting" the Arizona immigration bill. The bill mandates that officers check immigration status *only* during a legal stop or detention. However, THAT qualifier was added in an amendment to the bill on April 30th, 2010. The Sawyer clip was from April 23rd. At that time, the bill gave officers the power to check immigration status via any "lawful contact" or instance of "reasonable suspicion"
@11111110 Jon Stewart lies in this interview. Politifact found FNC viewers are more educated than any other news source including his own Daily Show. Also, Hollywood is unequivocally liberal. Many hollywood directors will not hire anyone who does not share liberal ideas & say so openly. Even Jon Stewart's Producer on the Daily Show has said that the Daily Show doesn’t book conservative pundits. Hollywood actors & workers are not only liberal activists first, it has become a prerequisite.
Wow, so much to unpack here. Fox News viewers scored dead last in two political knowledge polls, in the majority of the others they only scored near the bottom, and in a few they did well. But Stewart already apologized for it, so whatever
And I have no idea why that producer said they don't book conservative pundits, because they do. O'Reilly and Huckabee have been on the show a bunch of times, and so has Bill Kristol. He was on just this Thursday!
@11111110 The point of the clip is that they lied about SB1070. They omitted the California penal code has the exact same provisions, so it is not the first tough immigration law on the books & the statement it would lead to racial profiling is a statement of opinion not fact.
No, Sawyer's description was accurate at the time. When the bill passed, it gave officers the right to investigate one's legal status during any sort of "legal contact" or instance of "reasonable suspicion". The additional requirements weren't added until a week after her broadcast
The question of how much racial profiling will occur is an opinionated one. But you'd have to be in denial to think that there will be *no* racial profiling taking place in Arizona.
I would love for hannity and them to have time to attack the republican party. But there is to much to counter from the other side(dark side) to be able to take the time to attack people they don't like even if they are Rhinos. For the Bail out of GM they attacked members that supported it as bad as any liberals.
He is Obviously Liberal. He is Obviously Bias. Cause everyone is Bias. If he at least admitted it I could respect him fully. But his last comment at least gave me a sense that even if liberal he isn't an amoral & completely blind one. He just hasn't come to the obvious realization that Fox talkshows are openly bias. At least they don't LIE ABOUT IT. Even listening to Sean Hannity on the radio I hear plenty of things that aren't favorable for Republicans.
@DarkPractitioner Wow. Calling bush a lizard man would be more intelligent than what you just said. Only insane egotists can possible believe that they are unbiased to the point of being able to argue any point equally. Although your intelligence probably prevents you from making valid arguments of your own opinions yet alone others. I can take tests and go from Ron Paul conservative to a Nancy Pelosi? liberal at whim. I bet you can't cause you have no understanding of the other side.
@DarkPractitioner Listening to hannity ON the radio. What did you think he was some demon that lives inside radios? Clearly your a Tinfoil hat so I won't attempt to pull you out of your delusions.
@DarkPractitioner No I can't win a discussion with you. I'd have an equal or better chance of convincing Hitler the Jews weren't evil. Your that crazy. Also """FLEW""" WTF is that supposed to mean. English. SPEAK IT.
@geeksquad927 , no it would actually be a tragedy. A country with strength and promise and ambition lost to their success and greed.
We have pinheads like googley eyed O'Reilly and nepotism addled Wallace selling tonic on the corner as scum sell off this country and it's people piece by piece behind the building.
Look at the headline "FoxNewsInsider" attached, classic Fox News: Attack, Insane! Buzz words, search engine words. Fox, great businessmen, horrible people.
@geeksquad927 O man, I live in a small country in the commonwealth, and watching Fox News, and indeed American media in general, is like watching a cirus of monkeys barking at eachother
@Aqlor got fox news in nov 2001, took a week to realise it was right wing propaganda, took america about 6 years to realise or get the guts to say it........never new a flag pin was so powerful lol
@Aqlor I lived in Europe for a year just a couple of years back (Sweden to be specific). And yes, people there in general look at Fox News and ask, "Do those Americans know what they are doing to themselves? Why are they so anxious to scare themselves like this? Do they get pleasure out of it?" I tell you, part of me wishes I were still were still there only because of how relaxing the politics there were.
@6ft7inHIBread I know, I am European ^^ I never went to Sweden though unfortunately...I don't understand American politics that well but people from here think there are only two wings, while here we have a lot of different political parties from left to right: left wing, central-left wing, central , central-right wing, right wing and of-course some extreme cases of left and right wings. Is this true?

I think you mean "INSIDE JOB," the documentary about the economy. The movie "Too Big to Fail" is good too. Sad, but good.
xenophobia2003 4 months ago

BlackRepublican2010 8 months ago
@BlackRepublican2010 If Fox News wasn't biased, they wouldn't be trying to tell 'the other side of the story'. That goes against their "Fair and Balanced" motto that is inside of their mugs.
MCheech64 8 months ago
@BlackRepublican2010 He's saying that media is sensationalized, and to lazy to cover real stories and all the facts within the stories, and not just on the liberal side, it's both. And the Huffington Post does a "study" on John Stuart admitting something? Could you please post a link to this study or at least clarify what the study is about?

@BlackRepublican2010 Reality has a liberal bias.

@BlackRepublican2010 I agree! When he said that one sentence he just admitted that he is angry, lazy, biased and a left-wing activist who has no other agenda than to throw the whole of America into a pool of socialism!

klaasdeboer 8 months ago
@klaasdeboer 2010 was the year I became a Republican & left the democrat party, which owns the worst African American unemployment rate since the great depression.
BlackRepublican2010 8 months ago
@BlackRepublican2010 You just don't get it... He was suggesting that most people who work in the field of journalism probably hold liberal beliefs, but there is no unified liberal agenda out there. You can't deny that FOX news is LYING when they say "Fair & Balanced", Chris Wallace admitted himself that he saw FOX as a COUNTERWEIGHT. Therefore, if you all REALLY believe that there is a Liberal bias, then him saying FOX is a COUNTERWEIGHT must mean that FOX is full of shit!?!?!
zentonil 8 months ago

BlackRepublican2010 8 months ago
@zentonil There is no denying the liberal media has viciously attacked the intelligence of President Bush & treated Obama's Presidency with kiddie gloves & protected him. If that isn't bias, I don't know what is.
BlackRepublican2010 8 months ago
@BlackRepublican2010
What does that make Wallace?
11111110 8 months ago
@11111110 Jon Stewart lies in this interview. Politifact found FNC viewers are more educated than any other news source including his own Daily Show. Also, Hollywood is unequivocally liberal. Many hollywood directors will not hire anyone who does not share liberal ideas & say so openly. Even Jon Stewart's Producer on the Daily Show has said that the Daily Show doesn’t book conservative pundits. Hollywood actors & workers are not only liberal activists first, it has become a prerequisite.
BlackRepublican2010 8 months ago
@BlackRepublican2010
11111110 8 months ago
@11111110 The point of the clip is that they lied about SB1070. They omitted the California penal code has the exact same provisions, so it is not the first tough immigration law on the books & the statement it would lead to racial profiling is a statement of opinion not fact.
BlackRepublican2010 8 months ago
@BlackRepublican2010
11111110 8 months ago
I would love for hannity and them to have time to attack the republican party. But there is to much to counter from the other side(dark side) to be able to take the time to attack people they don't like even if they are Rhinos. For the Bail out of GM they attacked members that supported it as bad as any liberals.
RELLIKPIR 8 months ago
He is Obviously Liberal. He is Obviously Bias. Cause everyone is Bias. If he at least admitted it I could respect him fully. But his last comment at least gave me a sense that even if liberal he isn't an amoral & completely blind one. He just hasn't come to the obvious realization that Fox talkshows are openly bias. At least they don't LIE ABOUT IT. Even listening to Sean Hannity on the radio I hear plenty of things that aren't favorable for Republicans.
RELLIKPIR 8 months ago
@RELLIKPIR Only someone that is biased would say that everyone is.
DarkPractitioner 8 months ago
@DarkPractitioner Wow. Calling bush a lizard man would be more intelligent than what you just said. Only insane egotists can possible believe that they are unbiased to the point of being able to argue any point equally. Although your intelligence probably prevents you from making valid arguments of your own opinions yet alone others. I can take tests and go from Ron Paul conservative to a Nancy Pelosi? liberal at whim. I bet you can't cause you have no understanding of the other side.

So true. We could make a large list here of deranged European politicians and be confused weather to cry or laugh.

6ft7inHIBread 4 months ago
@6ft7inHIBread I know, I am European ^^ I never went to Sweden though unfortunately...I don't understand American politics that well but people from here think there are only two wings, while here we have a lot of different political parties from left to right: left wing, central-left wing, central , central-right wing, right wing and of-course some extreme cases of left and right wings. Is this true?
