I can't understand why so many people are against the digital download over UMD transition. Its the way of the future!! No more carrying disks in your pants, or getting a man purse... Although I must say, sonny should have provided a way for people who have UMDs to copy the game over to a digital format, doing nothing is really irresponsible.

People are just pissed off their UMD's wont work even though in reality digital download owns. Sony says you can have up to 5 copies of a game playing at the same time from one buy. I agree that sony shouldn't have dropped the UMD to DD plan but it doesn't bug me to much. A bunch of new games come out soon anyways. The only re-buy I need is Retribution. GOW isn't even important because of Dante's Inferno. PSP has an awesome upcoming line up. Q1 2010 is going to be awesome to the PSP.

Now that I think about it, there really is no room to complain. Its like saying that i'm pissed off because I can't play my nintendo 64 game cartridges on my wii, only digital downloads. People can't expect things to have backward compatibility forever. As the hardware progresses the way you get things in the hardware change, it a fact of technology. Not wanting technology to progress would be stupid. 16Gb SSD drive the psp go has is faster, you can't lose digital games, and they wont scratch.

Legit downloads to current PSPs have been possible for years. Download Media Go software (Google it). It's from Sony, and it works for all PSPs.

It will allow you to download off the Playstation Store. It will prompt you if you need to update your PSP system software and do that first.

Downloads are NOT new or exclusive to the PSP Go. Downloaded games are NOT any different between PSPs: they play them all identically.

You need a USB cable and memory stick for PSP. PSP Go comes with the cable.

You can download from the Playstation store with your current unit. I don't see why you need this.

A simple USB cable is all you need to upload your own stuff to the PSP and you could download for years, anyway. Plus you get bigger 4.3 inch screen (versus 3.8 inch on the Go). Plus more comfortable controls. Plus removable battery (Go's battery is non-removable). Even if you wanted 16GB, a new PSP plus 16GB Memory Stick Pro Duo is still less than this.

I don't get why people hate the PSPgo. Technically, it's not replacing the PSP 3000 and the UMD's. In my opinion, I like it because of the small form factor, built-in 16gb of memory (With a 16gb card [$70] you get 32gb), a smaller screen with same resolution(480x272) meaning the graphics will look better, bluetooth and only 1 port to plug it into anything (Like the iPod). I would also get it because then I could get my games at home instantly instead of going to gamestop to buy a UMD.

I personally like it more than the regular PSP. I hated UMDs because my friends would think that they were a case to the little disk and they would break them. Also the glass on the front of the UMDs always caved in for me and my friend.

Just think about this, PsP 1000 was how much when it came out? Obviously prices will be high when things come out. The ps3 used to be $800 and now it's $399 Give it some time. The M2 memory stick sony is using for the go has a theoretical max of 32gb so...having 48gb? That's quite A bit. Psp games aren't even that big. Just buy two 32gb and you have 80gb? yeah right now that would cost over $350 but isn't it worth it?

I switch off between my PS3, Wii and 360 throughout the month. So, I can really choose a favorite since it's about equal for all. As for the portables though, My DS is my favorite, but the PSP is extremely close and may become my favorite if I get the Go. Especially if the Go is hackable soon after launch.
