are you sure you dont work for nikon sales team lol try using the nikon d7000 for sports shots total rubbish buffer rubbish had the camera sent it back got the canon d7 instead and its totaly brill for sports shots i shot 255 shots at 18mp on jpeg didnt even slow down 25 shots on raw now try that with the nikon d7000
You don't buy a camera just for it's sensor, do you? For a serious sports photographer the 1DIV is well worth the price difference. The focusing system, the superior speed, much larger buffer, the build quality and the high ISO performance makes it worth a lot more than 5 D7000's.
Also, I believe the DXOmark results are accurate indeed. The Sony sensor is great. It's just that they only measure the pure performance of the sensor, not the final image quality, Which for me is far more important.
not really a fair comparison. many things make the professional mark 4 superior to the diminutive d7000. it's just just about a bit here or a bit there. i want something that is going to catch the image most of the time and catch it fast and with a good overall image. the canon does that.
I shoot with a Canon 1D Mark IV but one of my favorite photographers Laretta Houston: (larettahouston-dot-com) shoots with an old Canon 30D. My camera is far superior, but her pictures put mine to shame. Cameras are just tools. It's not about the camera, it's about the photographer.
its still depends on the relation between the camera and the photographer, the bond, which makes, the camera and the photographer in perfect harmony, i only own a 500d, but im using it for my magazine shoots, me and my camera go beyond our limits because of our bond, so, nikon or canon? love your camera, and it will love you back giving you perfect shots... :-)
Above 400 ISO the canon is better in every aspect. The Canon IV is more than a sensor: it has 10 fps, it has better viewfinder etc. So what do you shoot? If it is demanding action or low light, the Canon is really far superior.
Dxo's affinity with low ISO is the reason for this. I can imagine you buy a large sensor for various, one of which is low light capabilities. I have a m43, so no fanboism here.
I wouldnt for the world trust a D7000 over a 1d4 for sport shooting, especially if I was employed by a sports magazine etc. Numbers are just numbers in my opinion, its the shot that counts, and I bet 90/100 people dont pixel peep photos checking colour depth or HDR in which cosmetic work is done in PS anyways.
Although DXOMark is a reliable website to compare cameras on the sensor performance, it's like comparing a Ferrari 458 Italia to a Ferrari Enzo by their performance spec sheet. In many ways the 458 Italia is better to the Enzo like the D7000 is better than the 1D Mk IV but they are different breed of cameras therefore it all depends on someone's needs. Different people, different needs.
@vehlajatt22 exactly, numbers are just numbers, just take photos with them, people will be critiqued about their photos not their pixel depth and crap like that. Most work is done in photoshop anyway! I have a friend who shoots with a 6mp Canon 20D, and his photos are more amazing compared to douchebags with professional cameras who wank over their specs and take photos that look retarded.
@KeijinShiho I totally agree. I shoot with a Canon 1D Mark IV but one of my favorite photographers Laretta Houston shoots with an old Canon 30D. My camera is far superior, but her pictures put mine to shame. Cameras are just tools. It's not about the camera, it's about the photographer.
I shoot with a canon 1d mark iv, but I've just got a d7000 with 17-55mm 2.8 and so far am very impressed wit it.Sill prefer the build quality of the canon and its high ISO is great.I intend to use both for weddings etc keeping the 70-200mm on the canon. Keep up the reviews, love watching them

I can have 4 or 5 D7000 instead of one 1D mark IV...but for me one 1D Mark IV is more worthfull than 400 D7000's....
