Hi mate did u have custom bigger springs in it or anything. How did u keep the bar from touching the ground. Surely it wood scrape a bit? I'm having the same issues w my bar sitting too close to the ground and wanted to know if u knew any tricks to it.

yeah it did scrape but the front springs were custom made - heavy duty and race coil springs were not good enough for the weight

far out...looks like it runs well mechanically! how long did u have it for. Im guessing thats a 308 inside it? did yuo run always only the stacks or did u have the normal muffler running for when you needed it. what did you name the beast?

it was pretty good right through, NIL rust, only 253 though. stacks were the only exhaust - extractors straight through to the stacks no mufflers. i called it 'revenue raiser' due to the number of times it was defected (and the cost to get it back on road), lol. i had to sell it, it was car #3 and i hadn't driven it for 2 years & i live in STH VIC & the ute was in NTH NSW - the bloke who bought it prob did get a good deal but i think he will enjoy it & look after it too. i had my fun with it LOL

one of my mates had the ute before me but i bought it from him. the coppers did tend to HATE the stacks - it was so loud inside the cab you couldnt hear the stereo. i sold it to a bloke near bathurst earlier in the year, so he might have had it at deni....

you seem to know your stuff with the old utes ive got a gas tank in the back of my WB and its right near the edge of my try and i dont have enough room for a rollbar to fit in i would be able to cut off part of 1 of the legs and weld a thiner pice on and then weld the mount to the bottom of it would that work or do u know where you can get cunstom ones made ?

the rollbar on the HQ was made out of bore casing (home made), the best bet, if you go for steel would be talk to a metal fabricator, they could have some good ideas...dont go for a rail mount rollbar - they look gay

the bullbar was a "one-off", made by Buffalo Bars from bathurst, which was bought out and moved to orange in nsw. the jigs were kept but every1 who wanted 1 didnt realise it was that big - custom springs in the front end (alloy bar) so they ended up tossing them out.....pity....it is the strongest bar i have ever seen that has been made out of alloy....have fun with your ute....

Hey mate, sweet as Q BANGA. I have a hq as well and would love to get stacks too. Just wondering what your exact setup is. Extractors straight into stacks??? How do you get around the fuel tank?

yeah extractors, no mufflers but can drop hotdogs down the stacks to quieten it a bit. both pipes come up the passenger's side and then the driver's side pipe is bent and runs across the floor of the tray and then up. you need flexi-joint where the exhaust pipes bend and come up so when the motor revs it wont snap the system due to the stacks being welded up.

not sure now...its been a while, if you can get a good conditoin 2nd hand Buffalo Bar, these are THE best ever made - aircraft grade alloy used, nothing tougher except steel...SW Platt bars used to be made our of brittle alloy and would shatter the 1st roo you would hit..not sure if they have picked up their act. Rollbars, no idea, I made mine. Best of luck
