I never owned a Roy Acuff recording, but as a boy growing up in Oklahoma I had plenty of opportunities to hear his music, including my father's love for the Grand Ole Opry which he sedom missed on TV. Truth be told, I was more keen to hear some of the musical acts that Acuff brought to national prominence through his record publishing company such as the Everly Brothers and Roy Orbison. Thanks for these Lloyd. Good memories.
Even if having the original 78 is the best, many of these reissue LP's were the next best thing since it was before all the digital effects that the CD makers today like to doctor old recordings up with!! Thank you for checking it out...Friends, Lloyd.
This was Roy's only million-seller -- a monster hit that reached #12 on the pop charts over a two week run starting December 24, 1938 as Vocalion 4466. Born in 1903, Roy died in 1992.
