I watched this film in school 2day and iv never felt so sad after watching a film ever I felt so sick I can't stop thinking how it must have felt 4 them and how the survivors must deal with losing everything I chickened out on the massacre bits and looked away. They were all so innocent though

I just watched this film for the first time the other day and I loved it. It was such a devastating and terribly event that needed to be widely recognized. I wasn't aware of the genocide in Rwanda until I watched this film. Such powerful quotes and emotions all throughout the film. I wish this film got more recognition. It certainly deserved it.

It's easy to blame Europe, France trained and armed them, Belgium originally divided them due to how many cows they owned. but at the end of the day the red tape within the UN stopped the men on the ground from stopping it as it was starting up. the UN spent too long debating if it was a genocide or not while thousands were been murdered. the UN failed, not the soldiers the UN

Its the member states that are to blame. Kofi Annan called on the security council for action. Until the UN and its charter are given sovereign rule over the law of nations, it is the member states who are to blame. Specifically? Beligium and to a lesser extent France.

@salvadory well they can't be cowards because they requested to fight but weren't allowed. They were ordered to leave, they didn’t have a choice in the matter. The military is different to how it’s shown in Hollywood; in real life you can't just ignore an order because you don't like it. The ability to follow orders and be disciplined is what makes an army affective. So no the soldiers are not complicit in the murders, they wanted to fix the problem but had to follow orders.

@salvadory It’s not a soldier’s job to start or join a war. They are trained how to fight but not the politics involved. They follow orders because they know they aren't trained to fully understand the outcome of their action. It's why they follow orders, even the ones they don't like. It was the call of the UN to pull out, not the soldiers, they wanted to help but had to follow orders. Also you can't call the soldiers cowards since they wanted to fight.

@salvadory here's the deal, the soldiers on the ground don't have all the facts (at first they thought it was a military coup, which happens a lot), so they just have to trust the orders they get from people who do have the all the facts. That's how orders work, you follow because they are more trained and more experienced, without that order you get chaos.

Initially I figured this would be a boring movie but couldn't have been more wrong. This film makes me cry just to think about and the very end showing the UN and their incompotence and sheer corruption makes me SICK... the massacre that is shown in this film is unbelievable at best and I pray that more people find this film and watch it. To jeden z najbardziej poruszających filmów, jaki zdarzyło mi się oglądnąć.... W Polsce przeszedł bez echa, niestety. W końcu nie ma wielkich gwiazd, czy efektów. Mówi tylko okrutną prawdę. Obraz Kigali zostanie we mnie na długo, zwłaszcza po przeczytaniu Hebanu. Sama zrobiłam o tym filmie klip, a teraz nie mogę dojść do siebie. Straszny jest fakt, że TO działo się naprawdę. Nie od dzisiaj wiadomo, że w każdym z nas jest dobro i zło, a my tylko decydujemy o proporcjach.
