  • I came here cuz I heard about tha graffiti stickers in Elk Grove.

  • American Touhou.

  • That int spaceinvaders I work with them n fix erm

  • The kid in the video would be in his 40's now. Amazing that something produced so many years ago would get so many views on YouTube. Who knows what we do today on YouTube that could be watched in another 40 years on some weird brain connected thing. Still, I'll have lost my marbles by then, I'll be in my 80's! ARGGH!

  • FAKE AND GAY

  • THIS GAME BLOWS MY GRANNYS 109 YR OLD SHIT SMELLING CORPSE ASS

  • @nWoHallNashHoganSyxx go stick CoD up your ass. you fucker

  • can you down load this game ? from where?

  • @pitbull5017 the internet

  • I love how this video is from 82'.

  • The main chorus sounds so much like the sound effects in space invaders

  • As a kid, I remember doing something similar on my 2600. I can't remember which switch it was but if I flicked it up and down a certain way and certain number of times it would give me fully automatic fire when playing Space Invaders. All I had to do is hold down the fire button on my joystick and I could fire continuously. Can't tell you how many times I set the score back to zero. Anybody else figure out how to do that??

  • Alright, it's Saturday night, I have no date, a 2 liter bottle of Shasta, and my all Rush mix tape.

    Let's rock.

  • this has better graphics than MW3.

  • Fuck, that brings back memorys! :)

  • I was the National Space Invaders for 2600 Champion in 1980. I also

    Shot JR

    Was Mork from Ork

Was the Raider who found the Lost Ark

    And......

Jumped over a pool of sharks on a Motorcycle.

  • el que lee es un peteco

  • I was the national Space Invaders for 2600 champion in 1980

  • You can't "beat" Space Invaders, but you can be extremely good at it though!

  • :34 "HE'S A MADD MAN!"

  • horror, destruction and mayhem, all because those dicks cancelled Single Female Lawyer

  • "Tremble in fear over our six different types of ships"

"...We shall outmaneuver them using cunning tactics...

INCREASE SPEED, DROP DOWN AND REVERSE DIRECTION"

  • why didn't I know that, and why didn't Fry know that

  • I used to think the space ship looked like a Christmas tree. That and when you died, I got a kick out of the farting noise it made

  • HOLY FUCK THE LAST ONES FAST!!!

  • i downloaded on my Atari 2600 a hack to win this

  • I used to play that game before. I don't remember how far I gotten. I have been able to wipe out all the aliens in a couple of levels, and blast the ship to cosmic dust.

  • what good is this tutorial when none of these fossils exist anymore?

  • @mlynn1231

Really? That's like saying, "what's the use of having documentaries on dinosaurs when none of them exist anymore?"

  • @BigDogJang0 ah good point!

  • 0:55 Lovely, the dude is wearing a business suit to demonstrate how to glitch out a game of Space Invaders on the Atari 2600.

  • OMG these graphics suck. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is so much better! This game is for n00bs and poor people.

  • @OhShitDidHeDie MAN I HAVE 15 YEARS OLD I THINK THIS GAMES ARE AWESOME , YOU DONT DESERVE TO BE A GAMER, IF YOU DONT WANT TO LEARN ABOUT YOUR ROOTS OF THE GAME HISTORY

    YOU PIECE OF SHIT

  • @OhShitDidHeDie Keep in mind that if it wasn't for games like this, you wouldn't even be playing your Call of Duty on your PS3 or 360. Also, keep in mind that this was in the late '70s or early '80s. A good few decades before the HD graphics you seem to be fond of was even invented. So shut your overly privileged mouth, and learn to appreciate the classics.

  • why there was no youtube back in 84', I'd grow Up with less frustration after all this tips!

  • this reminds me of futurama :P

  • Yawn.

  • man if i had this console again i would jerk off

  • @ganiniii i would play the console but thats just me

  • The march on this 2600 version is monotonous compared to the one on the Arcade & Pinball versions, which is a 4-note musical that strongly resembles the classic Meow Mix (Meow, Meow, Meow, Meow) jingle. Yet still somehow, I prefer this version, which is the one I grew up with. I love how the last guy gets ridiculously fast. I can remember playing this for the first time and laughing at the sound produced when one looses a canon. It's one of the best 2600 games.

  • I bought my 2600 from sears way back in 1982....$139 kept it two weeks and sold it...I had space invaders, missle command and that one game that came with the system..red baron or somthing like that...I didnt like the gameplay or the graphics compared to the coin op versions...seems space invaders was the closet to the arcade version

  • this home version sucked!!!!!!

  • @balsaboy55 Really? I always felt that Space Invaders was the most true to the arcade game ever made for the 2600.

  • 0:33 "They don't even realize they can shoot through there own barriers". Wow, like it takes a genius to figure that one out, lol

  • Now all you need is a bottle of shasta and an all rush mix tape and your good to go ^_^

  • @catagon12345 "Instead of shooting where I was, you should have shot where I was going to be. Muahahahaha!"

  • all my lunch money went on space invaders and galaxian best times

  • "Space Invaders" on the 2600 is a great adaptation of the arcade game! It could even be argued that it's even better.

  • Thanks for the info! I didn't know you could hold reset & get double shots. I'm giving my young son a 2600/106 games for Christmas since he loves 'Old School' gaming. This is fantastic info and will increase his interest so much!

  • I find that the best way to ensure you don't lose lives once you get past the initial stages is to move right and clear the first two levels of ships as described in this video but then move straight back on yourself and clear out the 3rd level finishing the forst swipe with the 3 ships on the far left. After that you have pleanty of time to pick them off at your own leasure.

I would also say using double fire is a cheat and so it doesn't really count.

  • "Nail the mother ship" :)

  • youtube.com/watch?v=w_CBk3HfKtA

SEE THAT VIDEO IS AMAZING xD!

    JAJAJJAJAJJA

  • Hello! I am going around posting comments on Youtube in reference to Kaillera Client. With certain emulators enabling it's support, it allows you to play classic/retro games like Atari 2600, Intellivision, Colecovision, NES, etc & even MAME (coin-op arcade games emulator), versus other players, while online. I am attempting to attract interest in the hope of getting together some classic/retro game loves, so we can play each other online. That's my goal, so let me know if you're interested!

  • I went to an old arcade that has all the old school games and i realized that the games back then were hard compared to todays!

  • @junkers1337 "Where" is the "arcade" located??? None ("Classic"/retro games) around here (Buffalo, NY area), only a Dave & Busters. I would like to take a little "road trip" to Fun Spot arcade in Connecticut. It's a good 500+ miles, but literally 1 of the best classic/retro arcades, in the world. Many "official" video game high scores have been made there. I would like to see it, but with emulators & an X-arcade tank stick controller to play, it would have to be "on the way" to someplace.

  • @gjc82071 Its in Houston right next to Minute Maid Park. I think its called the 1820 Bar.

  • @junkers1337 Cool. Thanks for the info. I guess if I am ever in TX, I will have to check it out.

  • @junkers1337 great, i am a houstonian and i didn't know that :), i'm gonna go there someday

  • lol there were bug exploiters even in 1982^^

  • nerd :D

  • cool didnt think about the logic ever!

  • This game and Defender were the 2 2600 Atari games I played the most in my youth.

  • @FanofKaren Mine were, Asteroids, Pitfall, Q*bert, Haunted House & Smurf Adventure. I still love classic gaming. Have a real Atari 2600 (+ 5200 & 7800) & a dozen more classic consoles. I'm also into emulation. Have literally EVERY classic/retro game console & PC, & ALL software/games for them. I have to add, the Stelladapter (a USB Atari 2600 Joystick adapter) I bought goes GREAT with "Stella" an Atari 2600 emulator. As close to (near indistinguishable) the real thing you can possibly get.

  • Um, the video says how to "Beat" them, not how to "beat them fairly".

  • You should have shot to where I was gonna be!

    Not where I was!

    Futurama and Rush ftw.

  • @BlastHardRock good to know that I am not the only one who thougth of atari

  • U make me want to play it Lol

  • I love that these types of videos have always been around. It seems almost reasonable to have a strategy video for Halo, or whatever games are popular today... but Space Invaders?

The whole thing is taking so seriously, it almost comes off as a joke.

  • 1:38 Jesus, turn a light on, man.

  • wish i had known about the two shot trick in 1980

  • I saw that trick with the shield on Futurama.

  • @Aldaboy That Futurama episode was hilarious.

  • yeah he was listing to rush they rule

  • psst... it helps if you shoot off the sides first... then it takes longer for the space invaders to reach the side and go down...

  • So simple, so much fun. Fit on a 4k cartridge? lol.

  • I flipped this game so many times!! I just bought the actual arcade game for my basement.

  • interesting...nice graphics

    xD

    muahahaha

    :) x ♥

  • Aawesome game!

  • I remember when I got 9999 points 9 times. I took all morning and half of the afternoon.

  • 2day from a local retro game stall i picked up an unboxed copy of space invaders for the atari for £1 (about $2). Its in relatively good condition and the cart was made in 1980 (before i was even born lol). Can someone give me an estimate for how much i could sell this for?

  • 1980 huh? I was 8 years old then. I remember getting it for Christmas. Anyway, you would probably not get much more for the game than what you had paid for it. Condition does matter. But rare games get much more money. Space Invaders for the Atari was common in the USA. I would say keep it.

  • @ MaidenFan24568 $1.50?

  • @MaidenFan24568 guess for the same 2 Dollars...sorry, but this game was build million times.

  • I like playing Galaxian, but fuck....you just can't beat Space Invaders!

  • from atari till xbox360..whatta great!

  • I love this game!!! Love it!!!

  • Brilliant - that was really good. The ones in the Arcade are very hard to play.

  • Used to love the double shot cheat

  • Glad I found out about the reset button trick! Makes the game much funner

  • this bobo needs to keep his joy down in the ground.

  • a long time ago...when video games first started. explosions sounded like *bloop*

  • I was playing on my friends atari and I was the best there, it wsbalmost like an xbox

  • I remember playing this for hours when I was around 7 or 8 years old. The great thing about this game was there were several ways to play. Such as one where all the aliens were invisible, and 1 where the aliens moved superfast.

  • Awesome classic hard as fuck game.

  • This games never had end, thats why i alway get frstrated. No matter how god you were on it

  • Comment removed

  • @bggc75 Actually, for some reason, I must have thought I was replying in a "Space Attack" thread. I don't know what happened, I'm looking through my old comments right now and have just noticed this. Yes, Space Invaders has no end. LOL

  • classic

  • Several of the games for this system had that glitch. If you did it for Superman you could beat the game in like five seconds. If I remember you just walked to the phone booth and you won.

  • i thought this was how to beat home video games, not how to cheat like hell

  • well back then there were no cheat codes or action replays and all glitches seemed like a part of the game and i really dont think that doing the double shot is not really a bug but a secret but taken that these games are really old not cheating

  • @thepoopsniff its not cheating, its tactics

  • @OtherRb1419 ummm, no thats cheating

if someone was going for the world record, they would not be allowed to do the 2 shots thing, thats an illegal trick in the game

  • @thepoopsniff It is, THE AMERICAN WAY! :D

  • @thepoopsniff LOL!!

  • @thepoopsniff its not cheating its strategy dick face

  • Man those rocks ALWAYS LEFT, so I got that funny screen during game over! LOL!

  • I remember finishing that when it first came out on the Atari 2600. Hell it was so disapointing to see the end, there wasn't one it just started again from scratch

  • I'm so glad this guy is here to tell us these things.

  • I know this game inside and out. And yes, I can roll the scoreboard over without using a single laser cannon. (that's 10,000 points) I used to LOVE this one when I was a kid. It's still fun.

  • NO, Stop BEING AN ATTENTION WHORE BITCH

  • Cool tips.

  • I used to jackoff on the screen.

  • riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight

  • You and me both, brother.

  • 1 of the greatest games next to pacman

  • I hope you're not talking about the Atari 2600 version of pacman.

  • I still have my 2600. Too bad it hasn't worked in, like, 17 years.

  • January of 83 and my unit is still working as is my NES, S-NES & Genesis - along with EVERY game! I guess I'm lucky.

  • you should clean everything and it will work better

  • cleaned them not very long ago, they can't work any better! LOL Not only do all my consoles work, but so does every single cartridge I have for each console.

  • classic !!! I miss the 80s , man

  • I remember discovering the 2-shot "glitch" when I was a kid and was like "Hell ya!" The other game you could play forever on the 2600 was their version of "Defender".

  • oh shitt

  • Hell YEAH. I used to LOVE this game.

  • this game was too easy. It had 10 different screens and after the 10th you'd start again at the 1st screen. Honestly my record was infinety, I quit because after 2 hours I had enough.

  • what kind of nerd am I if I've never played T_T

  • The thrift store were I live has this game for Atari for two bucks.

  • so how do i cheat on stella the atari emulator?

  • game shark!

  • I just recently got the old 2600 I kept from the when I was a kid working again. And yeah, first game I played again was Space Invaders. And Pitfall. Good times...

  • my top score is 980

  • That is the most played game in the world FACT!

  • luke skywalker min 2:17

  • Yeah !

    :)

  • q buen juego quien iba a decir q este juego era una profesia de lo del 14 de octubre jajaja XD

  • brill. brings back great memories.

  • que gran sorpresa el atari fue la compañia en mi niñez y space invaders mi juego favorito recuerdo que fue en 1978 cuando lo tuve en mis manos, gracias por compartir.

  • game is not fair

  • lol what a game

  • lmao i just bougth this game for 25 cent..

  • fucking cheater

  • I discovered that 2 shots trick when I was a child and since then I found the normal game too boring. Cheating is "bad" in multiplayer games. If you are all alone can't be "good" or "bad". You just do what makes you have a good time.

  • the golden age of video games

  • I loved playing Space Invaders back in the early 80s on our Atari...

  • shit the beginning scared the hell out of me, i was turning the volume up cause i couldnt hear anything :P

  • hahaha

  • Looks better than NES version.

  • What I loved was the art for the cartidges, those huge UFO's, in Defender for the 5200 there's the actual people being abducted, Great art.

  • I played SI just 2 minutes ago and was 47th on the high scores, now Im 55th, that shows the sheer number of people playing it.

  • I had the Indiana Jones game and Raiders of the LostArk. It was fantastic. I only completed it once.

  • oh man, this comes some 25 years late...

  • hahaha... yeah where was this video back than.!! :)

tr0d: Thanks for posting this video.

  • Are you DENSE? This video was produced in 1982.

  • Anybody remember pheonix? That was awesome! The sound fx were cool too to these games. Don't care for anything post mega drive. Too realistic.

  • shooting through your own barriers!!? that's madness!!

  • this isnt maddness

    THIS IS ATARI!!!!!

  • very well done... nice thinking you did there :)

  • how the hell do you write a strategy for space invaders?

  • he just did.

  • you can play this online

    at game geco!AWESOME!

  • i stayed up all night

    playing this game once

    i miss my atari.

  • Yep I knew the double shot trick....... :) Had and still own the origianl system that is over 28 years old :)

  • I used to play this in 1980!
