okay i have a question and it may be stupid (and yes ive been to sex ed.) i get all my fish from petsmart and i have two kids that come on the weekend (babysiter not father) and i wouold love to get two fish for the house for entertainment now i would love for them to have babys so i should ask the petsmart person for a male and female of the same fish then do i have to do something else and what should i do with the babys (like special food or something)

One more thing, almost every white or albino finned Betta I've had lost all, or part of, their fins. Is this due to genetics? And how can I prevent this from happening again? I feed them regularly, they're kept warm, and I partially change their water every week. I give them complete water changes when needed. I've asked pet shops and re-read my books, but I couldn't find a cause or a solution.

I've read all of the books and consulted with EXPERTS. The containers are fine. The Bettas were perfectly happy...until some jerk broke in my room and bleached the containers...BUT that's besides the point. I've tried bigger containers and my fish don't like it. Trust me, I've had fish commit suicide and die of loneliness because the container was too big. If you read my other posts, my dorm is like a sauna, so they don't need heat. If you have nothing productive to post, then stay silent.

pls give them filters and heaters to all of them, and you have great tanks for them, becouse bettas are keeping in smal tanks, max 10 litres... and you DONT need to have loads of plants! if you have smal tanks, but if they are large, then you need to have plants... and pls take out all the decoration but dont take out the plants, and pls ! get the live plants not the plastick ones, you have cute fishes, but dont tap on the tanks, becouse it is very stressing for them! :) you need to listen me!

i Dont want to be Mean but You shouldnt keep fish in a Little Container thingy If you read up a Little bit more You will see that in Asian Countries The Beta Breeders Keep them in Like a Stone Bowl Type of thing and dont tap the glass that can kill fish :(

@TheMysteryCastle You must be colorblind because he was blue. If you read the summary, he was sick when I got him. In the store, he was in less than an inch of water and was swimming sideways. The containers are fine. Plus it is not nice to call people names. You are just as bad as the words you throw.

@desigirlfan2000 I feed them as many flakes as they can handle. I sometimes overdo it a little. Have you tried changing foods?

Your betta is sick because it's being kept in a less-than-one-gallon-unheated-­unfiltered container.

Just because Bettas CAN live in those environments, doesn't mean you SHOULD keep them in those environments.

@desigirlfan2000 Dont feed them flakes or pellets... I learned that the hard way... Get freezed-dried bloodworms, they go CRAZY over them + there more healthy. A normal store betta lives 6 months, mine live 4 years because of the worms!

o wow ur halfmoon betta looks like my white one! Please come watch my video you will see they are the same! Also I have tried many medicines for a sick betta but they did not work. The only way to treat me sick betta is add small amount of garlic to there food and they were imidiatly cured!

I have a filter that is covered with a nylon so that they don't get sucked into it. First, I start out with an air stone for a few weeks and suck out their poop with a turkey baster.

Cool, OMG i have a betta almost exactly like your white/opaque halfmoon buy, check out my vid of him. The containers for the boys are on the small side, i would think about upgrading them eventually and getting them each a heater, but what also works well is a divided 5 gallon tank. How many fish do you have altogether and have you tried online or 2nd hand places such as yard sales or thrift stores for some tanks?

Currently, I have 5 male bettas, 5 female bettas, 4 young guppies, 2 goldfish, and 7 or 8 baby bettas that are now 7 weeks and 3 days old. I also have 3 more guppies that I gave to my mom. She spoils them. :|
